Goodwin was dropped by Keiswetter before he had scored a run... :-O
A bit like Lara who was dropped by the keeper when he was on around 18 and ended up with 501*

Davies just turned out to have had a back spasm for Durham, so hopefully he'll be okay for the rest of the season.

Won't be needed. Onions and Harmy are back in a few days time.

Not sure why Sussex declared. Somerset already going at 5 runs an over...

Hampshire love battting at Trent Bridge, cannot quite believe that Lumb managed a double century, Ervine having his best season to date with his third century, With Carberry out for the season we just have to hope this was not a one off from Lumb. Need Tahir to perform now if we are going to have a chance of winning.

11/2 from 7. Some good early wickets for you :)

Really pleased Ravi Bopara has gone back to Essex and finds himself on 83 not out at the close. He could have felt sorry for himself, gone back and licked his wounds and had a bit of a sulk. None of it, he's watched Surrey rack up an unlikely 428, then when it's his turn he's not missing out. Good effort Rav, hope he goes on and registers a big one tomorrow.

In a way I hope so, but in another way it makes the county championship look a bit weak. I mean, a player who has looked horribly inept against a fairly ordinary international attack to go back into the CC and hit a load of big scores doesn't exactly say great things about the level of quality. Or of course it says bad things about Bopara's mentality, which isn't exactly great either.

Tbf, he also looked world class against another (albeit much more) ordinary international attack.

Fair enough, but you also have to counter against that the fact he is back at a place where mentally he is probably very comfortable, and also he knows that he is good enough to score runs at this level. Until he has done that consistently for England he will not feel 'he belongs' in such company despite his almost arrogance in his ability.

I mean it's no clear that Surrey's attack is a worse one than Australia's, their ability to execute the plans Australia have worked on with Bopara will not have been as successfully executed due to the difference in quality. But I do think Bopara has a hunger for big runs, and I hope a strong finish to the CC season will see him on the plane to SA in the winter for the Test series.

Time out of the spotlight and a chance to get back to a more relaxed environment may help too. He is not the finished article by any means, but the potential is clearly there for me.

I think that is an arguable point at best, I would firstly say that the West Indies have two ordinary bowlers and the rest are rubbish. More than this, Bopara offered them many chances to get him out, but they failed to capitalise.

Interesting scorecard at Leicester - looks as if it might be breaking up there. Hamish Marshall has 3 for 16!

Edit: 4 for 16 ... had 14 career wickets before this innings.

Just five balls this morning at Taunton - must have been bad if they couldn't even finish the over. Hope it's not on the way over.

Strange goings on at Essex, with 2 of them retired hurt.
Meaker can be quite lively, he's the most likely to have inflicted the injuries. Useless reporter on TMS didn't even mention them.

I hadn't even noticed that tbh, I thought Phillips was batting a bit high. :)

Leicester's last wicket pair have lasted 14 overs now, or a quarter of the innings. They've even seen off Hamish.
