Well seeing that Hamish Marshall can't be registered as a qualified player now he'll have to be our overseas player. We really could have used a fast bowler.

I think the only thing of note Glos will manage is perhaps relegation from Pro40 Div 1. Might do well in the 20-20. Will perform characteristically bad in County Championship no doubt.

Edit:

I sound like Scaly

Derbyshire are apparently signing two Kolpaks. One is a former international and the other a 'rising' star.

BCCI are reported to be given the PCB some **** over this.
More reason for them to do it

On a serious note, to stop someone who is clearly never going to play for Pakistan again and has also played in England for so long would just be childish and totally unfair. This is the BCCIs problem, they shouldnt make other countries do their dirty work for them.

I've got a fair bit of time on my hands this summer, so I was looking at Lancashire's home Championship games. Can't believe that to see one day of first-class cricket, usually attended by one man and his dog, will set me back £15. £15! It would then cost me about that much again on the train to get there... disgrace. A fiver, covering everyone, would be much more suitable.

Yes, tbf, it seems quite good value to pay £15 for around 6/7 hours of top flight sport, when you pay around £30 for a Premiership football game for a hour and a half. However, as you say, the Championship games are hardly well supported and the price should be brought down to reflect that. I for one would make many more trips to Old Trafford to watch the CC if it was a more reasonable £5 a day.

went to watch a OD game over here and got for $10(less than a fiver) entry for that day, entry for a twenty20 game and entry for a pura cup game, plus a bag of stuff (like a mini bat and ball, pen, badge etc).

But then because CC games aren't well supported they need to put prices up to cover costs.

Saying that, I reckon Somerset's CC matches this season will have pretty decent crowds. The price of tickets will still stay up, though, because of the ground development.

Middlesex have signed Vernon Philander and Australian, Dirk Nannes. Philander arrives as the overseas replacement for Ashley Noffke, who due to Australian selection is now unavailable for the county. Whilst, Nannes has been signed as a replacement for Friedel de Wet, who signed a Kolpak deal last year but is now unavailable to fulfil those commitments. Nannes, holds a Dutch passport and will not be counted as an overseas player.

Philander will stay with the county until June when Murali Kartik arrives.

Incidentally, the collapse of de Wet’s Kolpak deal maybe due to the cricketer not receiving ECB clearance. Alfonso Thomas, who is one of Somerset’s many Kolpak signings is currently in England talking with the ECB after his Kolpak deal with the county hit a brick wall.

We'll do fine without him what with Caddy, Charl, Steffan, Ben Phillips (who is looking pretty good pre-season) and Mark Turner. Anyway, he'd only be our 2nd Kolpak signing.

Middlesex coach Toby Radford

"We thought we had Friedel, a top quality seam bowler, he was actually granted a work permit but it's suddenly been rescinded.

We don't know whether that's the ECB or the Home Office and can't get a clear answer from either. It's frustrating, we've had to shelve it."
