Injury and illness crisis apparently. Poor attitude really, they should be giving younger Academy players a game, not bringing back 40-year-olds.
Thats pretty shocking.. You'd have thought they'd have at least brought in some overpaid, overhyped Kolpak in to do the job..

Out of interest, are Middlesex keeping their pink and blue strip for the season? I know they wore pink in a recent game to support a breast cancer charity but that was a different outfit I think.

And Northern Rock are their sponsors, there has to be a gag or two there surely.

Just looking at the previews of tomorrow's CC games, it appears that KP won't be playing for Hampshire, although just about every other member of England's squad in New Zealand will be, or has already played for their county. Anyone know why this is? Too busy watching the IPL and drooling, perhaps?

Saw the squad and thought Newby was unlucky to miss out, but he's apparently injured anyway. Hardly any point in naming a squad yet tbh, first 3 days look likely to washed out.

Pietersen and Collingwood are being rested until the beginning of May. Collingwood with his heavy workload as captain of the ODI squad as well as playing in Tests. He had some niggles that he had to get rid of as well. Pietersen probably just told Moores he needed a longer rest as he didn't have a long enough honeymoon.

Somerset's squad to face Lancs:
Trescothick
Francis
Langer (capt)
Hildreth

Edwards is on compassionate leave due to a serious illness in his family.
It looks as if the last spot will be between Steff & Turner.

Brilliant batting lineup, horrible bowling... Lots of draws this season?

Hmm win the toss and bat first against Surrey with basically guys averaging in the 20s at 6 and 7 and bowlers there after, then have one of your best batsman get run out after facing 1 ball against a bowling attack that wouldn't worry an octogenarian XI. Brilliant stuff Durham.
