Lol at Derbyshire. Andy Bichel is such a gun for Essex, anybody know why Danish Kaneria isn't playing?
Danish is in a Karachi training camp, preparing alongside Yasir Arafat and Younis Khan for the 20/20 World Cup.

Edit- Khan's playing for Yorkshire, so presumably his declined the invite.

Cheers.

Disappointing result for Essex in the end, they won't be at all happy with Taylor scoring a century.

Hmm Chanderpaul doing nicely on his Durham debut against Surrey, gotta love Schofield's 3 overs going for 40. Mustard as well also impressing yet again with another blitzkreig innings as an opener, England should definitely be keeping an eye on him.

This season he averages 45.58 @ SR: 95.62 in list A matches and 38.50 @ SR: 155.55 in the Twenty20. Plus he's a wicket-keeper.

Lasith Malinga has signed a three week deal with Kent, beginning with 20/20 finals day. Malinga replaces Andrew Hall, who according to the Beeb has international commitments (can only be a 20/20 World Cup training camp).

And with the deal being only three weeks, the chances of Hall going to Zimbabwe seem unlikely.

Watched the first 4 sessions of the Lancs Sussex match, Murali is just awesome, completely unplayable even when it doesn't turn.

Any one watching Essex-Worc. being showed on Sky? We are getting coverage as we have been getting of a lot of Sky live English domestic cricket on Star cricket.

Flat wicket here and given how small the boundaries are at Chelmsford at front and square, really a pity that Worcestershire find themselves at 120/5 right now. Essex should be able to win it really despite the turn the pitch is offering. The wicket of the game so far has been Bichel clean bowling Ben Smith - good ball that.

BTW for all you Ryan ten Doeschate fans out there, he fielded pretty well on the two occassions he was required to in the first 20 overs or so.

Durham need 192 to win, and they've sent out their one day openers, Di Venuto & Phil Mustard.

They've already scored 73 from 9 overs. 9x4's, 1x6.
119 from 27 overs required...should be exciting.

Should win from there, just as well really given they allowed the 9th and 10th wicket to each put on 71 in the match.

Plus it's incredible really how consistent Mustard is when he's blasting it like this, then poor he is when he's batting more normally.

Yeah, they've moved on quickly to 107 from 16. Doesn't look like rain (although it's a bit overcast). 85 of 20 needed.

Should also mention Ottis Gibson getting another 4 wickets in the second innings (8 for the match), which I think takes him to 3rd highest wicket taker in Division 1 (also interesting that 4 of the top 5 wicket takers in this division are over 35...shows how important experience is)

And Durham win with 6 overs to spare, excellent runchase scoring at over 6 an over. Moves Durham up to 3rd in the table

I was interested to see this scorecard from the 2nd XI championship. That was some Surrey line-up - Brown, Benning, Salisbury, Akram, Ormond and Dernbach - but it still wasn't enough to beat Sussex - in fact, they lost heavily. And how long have the 2nd XI games been 12 a side (11 bat, 11 field)? It's bad enough when touring sides do that. At least they do it to give everyone a game, there's no real need in domestic cricket.

It's not much of a game when someone declares 2 wickets down and 100 runs behind, though Sussex have a pretty decent side from the looks of it.

Chris Martin has signed for Nottinghamshire as an overseas player to replace David Hussey.

I can't see him being a success. Not quick enough, and not good enough to extract movement on placid pitches; a ground like Taunton or Chelmsford will be a graveyard for him. Can't see why Notts have bothered. They could have tried for James Franklin instead (same State team as Flemo) and at least they'd get someone who can bat!!

Twenty20 finals day, first match starting in 20 minutes.

Lancashire put into bat by Gloucestershire - Lancashire are without Mal Loye (back injury)

God the Five Live coverage is already irritating me, they have that rubbish woman on... because of course it's important they have someone female on regardless of how much the coverage suffers...

They're more interested in talking to someone in the crowd or some other gimmick instead of telling us what the hell is happening in the *game*.

Also this pitch already sounds piss poor, slow wickets in limited overs cricket are horrible - of course we don't want to see faster bowlers steaming in and doing well - lets see the dobbers get rewarded, fantastic.
