Well, thanks to a good partnership between Plunkett & Wiseman, Durham have got up to 297...frustratingly just short of another batting point, but still it's a very good lead of 115.

Run-soaked game at Canterbury ... Lancs making a pretty good fist of chasing 430. Key might have cause to regret declaring by this time tomorrow. Mahmood's match figures of 0 for 125 suggests he's nowhere near ready for a recall, even if he were likely to get one.

Edit: Just realised this was the last day. Match drawn. :D

Durham win by 5 wickets, so that's 19 points scored.

Moves us up to 2nd in the table, having played a game less than Yorkshire. it's so tight, it's still really anybodys to win (or anybodies to lose...Hampshire for example are going to have to play out of their skins to get a win out of this match against Surrey)

Yorkshire - 14 games, 167 points
Durham - 13, 155.5
Sussex - 13, 153
Hampshire - 13, 143
Lancashire - 12, 139
Warwickshire - 14, 131
Surrey - 14, 118
Kent - 13, 117
Worcestershire - 14, 86

I'm no good at working things out, does the loss against Durham condemn Worcestershire to relegation? or is there still a mathmatical chance of them escaping?

Well they can get 40 points from their last two games, so in theory they can move above Kent and Surrey, but does the Kent tally include today's match?

Just checked - it doesn't, they took 10 or 12 points from the match that's just finished (not sure if it's 4 or 6 points for a draw), so I'd say that means that Worcs are doomed.

In Division 2 Somerset are dominating against Glamorgan, are they assured of promotion if they win that? I'd imagine they are, even a draw might be enough to clinch it.

Yeah, how very odd...I took the list from Cricinfo & they've added in Hampshire & Surrey's bonus points despite it being only the end of Day 2, but they haven't added in any of Kent or Lancashire's points despite it ending in a draw. So there should be 10 extra points each for those 2 teams (it's 4 points for a draw & both teams got 3 batting & 3 bowling points).

I have no idea about Somerset getting promoted...Like I said, I'm useless at trying to work these things out...gives me a headache lol

Always difficult trying to work these things out while matches are in progress - as you say, points have been added for some teams and not others. We'll have a better idea by tomorrow night. Looks like it's going to be a real scrap between kent and Surrey. I woud tip Surrey to win another game or two (and beat the drop) purely because of the Harbhajan factor. Then again, he's in India's T20 squad, so I don't suppose he'll stay to the end of the season.

RTD finally hits some form and scores a ton against Derbyshire. I can't recall the game, but he also scored an important 50 earlier this season, seems to shine when Essex is in trouble, but nonetheless, has had a poor season.

Anyone know why he doesn't bowl taht often anymore? Injury, choice or poor form?

Gibson got 10-for and suprisingly, possibly the worst batsmen in the County game, Kadeer Ali scored a 100, his 3rd in 115 innings.

Just direness, really. His bowling is quite poor - nothing better than what Damien Martyn could offer really.

Somerset beat Glamorgan today to be promoted to Divsion 1!!!!!!!!!! Much raucous singing ensued (Blackbird by The Wurzels being their victory song of choice :D ) and lots of alcohol was sprayed. So annoyed I can't be there for the last match against Notts :( Oh well, at least I can pop down the road to watch them play at Edgbaston next year :D :D

An average of 42.63 for FC isn't the greatest and I've been disappointed TBH, he's been extremely disappointing in List A stuff, apart from his 5/50 and been nothing to write home about in Twenty20 cricket. But it's good to see him finally getting some regular exposure against decent bowlers, shows he can suceed. Expect a much better season next year

He's just not that good really, although excels whenever he plays for the Netherlands and quite often opens the bowling. Just shows how big the gap is between County Cricket and Associate stuff.

That's not all that bad. Is that for this season? Cause I was assuming an average of sub 30 TBH.
That's his FC average for Essex this season. It is poor in comparison to Irani, Napier, Bopara, Cook and Bichel who are all averaging 50+ and on a pretty flat home ground, RTD would probably be a bit disappointed. In saying that, I think he'll be happy because he is getting more and more exposure.

Surrey have beaten Hants by an innings and 37 runs. Should have wrapped it up a lot sooner - Hampshire's number 10 lasted two and a half hours - but an important result which presumably lifts them above Kent.

Haha, Lancashire have had another abandoned game in the Pro40. What a waste of time. A season long (or June-August) Twenty20 league has to be the way to go, with batches of 50-over one-day games at the start and end of the season. Plus a proper knock-out cup thrown back in.

Durham win easily at Derbyshire (by 7 wickets with 12 and a half overs left) & go top of the Div 2 table with 10 points. One game left, at home against bottom club Glamorgan, who haven't won a game in this competition all year. So they really should get both points there.

Somerset are on 9 points having 2 to play. Surrey & Yorkshire still in the hunt too...It's going to be an exciting end to the season.

I'm pretty hopeful that Durham will go up, if we get the 2 points at Glamorgan that'll be 12 points, plus we've got the best net run rate in the division.
