Hampshire sneak into the Playoff which will be against Glamorgan thanks to Somerset and a narrow win over Yorkshire. Its a good chance to get something concrete out of a slightly frustrating season.

Why couldn't Somerset play like that for most of the season??
Nearly 7 months til I'm back at the County Ground :(
Because they have no consistant performers at all, Caddick and Willoughby aside.. Thankfully I've only got to put up with 2 months at the CG next year..

Mind you, I'd like to see a game between a Somerset and my franchise side in SA.. I'm struggling to work out whos worst...

Tomm NCCC

International 12th Man
In My absence, Patel scored a fantastic 156, hit 46 in the pro 40, secured a man of the match performance at Durham, and hit the winning runs yesterday (all be it 4)

And Notts just have to basically turn up against Sussex to secure first division status.

The team themselves have the talent, as they showed yesterday, they just need a decent coach who they're not pals with. It never works if a deputy headteacher returns to a school as the head, & the same thing can be said of cricket coaches. Hurry was the fitness man before, then returned (unproven) as coach and it really hasn't worked. What they really need is a proven coach who the team respect but are slightly scared of so when they play badly, they can get a good kick up the backside & get set on the right track.

They also need a player at the helm (like G Smith, S Jayasuriya) who puts in huge performances and serves as an inspiration to the younger guys.. After all, Hampshire secure the services of Shane Warne.. Even some good Kolpak players would raise the bar..

And more kolpak players would mean less home-grown talent. Cam White's back next year & hopefully Langer will join him...

It would make the home grown talent fight harder for their places, Hildreth and Durston would get in regardless.. It might also cause us to win a few more games..

well the Notts beat Sussex, so that will give them confidence going into their final game next week.
Can't see Sussex being at all bothered about losing a meaningless OD game.

As I said before, they can only win it with help from other sides, and the way Sussex have been playing, I can't see it happening.

2nd parts all well and good, but it was hardly a meaningless OD game. A win would have given them the title, as it is they even surrendered second place and the prize money that goes with it (no prize money for 3rd)

Looks tough for Notts from here, shouldn't really have prepared a turner with Mushtaq on the other side and your spinner injured...

I see we've picked Jimmy, personally i would have left him out, being limited to 12 overs is stupid. Almost as stupid as the ECB saying Mahmood needs a rest from all the cricket he's played..

19 more needed for 350, if we get that and win(assuming the 3 bowling points) then Sussex at least have to win to get the championship. Can't see Notts putting up to much of a fight thouth

Yeh, how boneheaded could you be to win the title?
