Rana and Mushtaq (3 for 4) repeating the trick once more against Durham, who should lose by an innings.

With Mushtaq’s form and experience of playing in England, Pakistan would not be too wrong in selecting him. Even if Kaneria at this moment in time is a dead cert to play, considering how bad are boys played him last time round, Mushtaq performances this year are almost to good to ignore.

Also good news about Harmison, saw a couple of his dismissals on Sky Sports, looked to be getting up a full head of steam.
Not surprising that Durham are batting disgracefully, they used to often lose by an innings when Harmison regularly played for Durham a few seasons back.

must be rare to have a side playing where everyone has an FC 100 to their name.. Maybe not..

Heath Streak batting ahead of Daniel Vettori, very strange  . Oh well, the benefits of being captain I suppose.

not sure about other counties but between about 93 and 99 Lancs regualrly fielded such a side. Something like this in the early days

GD Mendis
JP Crawley
MA Atherton
*NH Fairbrother
NJ Speak
M Watkinson
Wasim Akram
PAJ DeFreitas
+WK Hegg
G Yates
PJ Martin

then there's the likes of Chapple and Austin who'd play who have tons as well. Chapple bats six these days but he was at no 11 sometimes in the mid 90's

this was one in 98

JP Crawley
MA Atherton
A Flintoff
GD Lloyd
M Watkinson
*Wasim Akram
+WK Hegg
ID Austin
G Chapple
PJ Martin
NH Fairbrother

He does have a higher average, more centuries and more fifties...

Well in actual fact batting at number 8 Vettori averages 36.21 in tests as opposed to streak at 8 who averages 20.76, and for vettori that's actually 12 more than his career average whereas for streak he actually goes below his career average by 2 whereas if streak dropped himself to 9 he would actually go 3 above his average.

But then i guess that's the advantage of being captain of a county side.

Wouldn't want to run into this lot in a one day or 20/20 match though.

Edit: Although on today's performance deep batting is no good if sides can rack up 500 against you...

So it's my fault that it was raining?
It's siling down here - and I've got to go to the bus stop in 5 minutes. I'll hold you personally responsible if water gets into my briefcase.

There's nothing worse than soggy sandwiches.

Until they actually go out there I wouldn't bet on Streak to bat ahead of Vettori. He's been batting himself at 9 and 10 this season.

Once again a Devon player saves Somerset. It is such a shame Arul was out for 99, he appears to have played a brilliant lone hand. Were it not for him, Somerset would be facing a huge deficit, now, however, they can grab a narrow lead. Somerset have all these young talents from their own county, but what did they do? Nothing, that's what. If Devon refused to give them Suppiah and Matt Wood they would be in deep trouble. They wouldn't have a single good batsman.
