w00tyw00tyw00t!

Excellent win in the battle of the sheep fanciers as Derbyshire put paid to the victory hopes of the hated Glamorgan druids.

Early days yet but Chris Hinton's "Derbyshire should be thrown out of the Championship" rot is looking somewhat premature. Perhaps my avatar will be safe this season after all?

Jones The Escaped a career-best 6-25 against his former jailers.

very powerful side Lancashire ae fielding today, probably the best they will have all season, but it could have been stronger for sure, i dont get why they would pick Hogg with Freddie in, picking Horton would make the batting MUCH stronger.

clearly i haven't all i am stating is that if Lancashire picked an extra batsman in Horton today the batting would have been MUCH stronger. Its not as if i have singled him out & over-exaggerated his ability thus overrating him. Since its quite obvious that picking an extra batsman in whoever would have made Lancashire's batting today stronger.

I don't think Horton is hugely more talented batting-wise than Hogg, plus Hogg can bowl.

Sean, you do know that Horton was born in Australia right?

lets ignore the fact that he wasn't in the squad, has played a total of 5 list a games for Lancashire, of which only one was last season, and that was against Bangladesh A. And also ignore the fact that if Lancashire were to play an extra batsman, it would have been Andrew Crook and not Paul Horton.

Firstly, not until about 3 hours ago when I checked his averages on cricinfo to see if aussie's sudden love of him was justified.

Secondly, Andrew Crook was born in Australia, too. So it's all good, I'd imagine.

Open the window and shout out to Hassan Adnan that it is a limited overs match Eddie. 2 from 22 who does he think he is, Simon Katich? :p

Birt now has a List A bowling average of 30 to go with his FC bowling average of 25. Shame about his batting form in the last couple of games.

Aye.

Job done - 15 off 37 now and with Chris Taylor going along nicely, they look ok at the moment. Mind you, it's a bit black over Bill's mothers now. May end in a second helping of D/L.

Another top win by "England's worst county by far"...

I'm beginning to think that the major clearout last winter just might open the door for a not-too-shabby season.

On Friday I went to the third day of Essex v. Leicestershire at Chelmsford. Despite the grim match situation, the main attraction for me was, as you'd expect, the possibility of seeing the Flower brothers bat together. I even brought a Zimbabwe flag I usually have pinned on my wall at Uni down to wave "just in case".
Luckily for me, they did bat together. Unluckily for Essex, it was only for a short period of time. But, briefly, you could see them saving the match for Essex. They definately provided the stoutest resistance, but Grant got himself out cutting a wide one from Claude Henderson, Andy copt a viciously rearing ball from Ryan Cummins (who looks a good county prospect) and to be honest Essex never looked like saving it after that. It was clear that, despite the fact Grant had been out in the middle for a long time when he came in, Andy took the lead in the partnership, obviously because he is the better player, as well as being the eldest!
This was probably my only chance I will get this year to see my county in action, as I will still be in Norwich when they're at Taunton.

Was at Uxbridge today to see a pretty poor performance from Hampshire. Ed Smith played really well for his 88 and Joyce played quite nicely but they should have been limited to about 225 instead of the 254 they got. Hampshire then batted pretty badly, dreafdul shot from Thonrley. Pietersen didnt play that well but still got 40 odd but Carbery played very well. Not overly concerned at the deafeat it was just a bit sloppy.

There is a slidshow of images of the night concerned on the NOTW website

Warney fell into the trap, not that you can blame him with what was on offer. It would have been worth it :naughty:

He did the business in the Ashes after a romp as well, we should make sure he is hooked up every night of every test this coming summer.

I'd lay (tee hee) odds of 10-1 that the Screws set the whole thing up.

Worcestershire looking good to take Derbyshire's 'worst county' tag, losing to Scotland by 8 runs, Kabir Ali with 7 runs off 11 balls near the end sealing their fate.

Another win for Durham, tidy stuff apart from Plunkett going for over 7 an over.
