Well the report on the ECB website seems to think Smith bowled well, getting seam movement, says that the ball he got Maher with was a beauty and since 2 of his other wickets were LBW and the last was caught at first slip they can't have all been that bad balls, although the Lewis wicket was apparently a slash outside off.

Apparently Muchall was dropped a couple of times.

Dave...I just got back from the Riverside and don't get too carried away with your bowling. It was more to do with, in fact it was all to do with horrible batting. Only two of the wickets were down to half-decent balls and the rest came from awful shots played off bad balls. Muchall was in great nick but again tried to take a bad ball on and made a hash of it. Maher needs to show more than he is now, much more as he looks awful. I know he needs time to get used to English conditions but really he is a weak link. Lewis looked sturdy but other than Muchall no-one else stood out. Pratt came in in the mind frame he was going to wahck it and missed about 4 shots early on so took it more conservatively and then was out without making a mark.

I think Lancs can feel like they can win it. Unless we bowl you out tomorrow for under 250Durham can't win. Its either a draw or a Lancs win. If the opening partnership get a good knock then alls well but loose a few early wickets and it may cause both sidesto play out the draw. I cant see Lancs attacking if they loose wickets early.

Anyway, another fab day at the riverside
ha, it all may be so, but Durham still are on the back foot in this game, as you Lancashire are in a strong position to win this match.

 Durham UCCE 46 all out. Charlie Shreck 5.2-3-6-5.

Lowest score in first class cricket in England for a while?
Is it an FC game then?

Cricinfo didn't have the career stats page when I looked earlier.

I think that Worcester will win now :)
Have to say that bearing in mind how badly Somerset were beaten by Gloucestershire it doens't bode well for Worcestershire!

Good to see Zaheer bowling well for Worcs ... if only he could do the same after getting a national call-up.:@

Actaully all we know is that he is taking wickets - in County Cricket there are lots of players capable of doing that who are horribly exposed when they have to bowl to top class batsmen.

A huge case in point is his current new ball partner...

I know I said that. Its a batsmens pitch and our batsmen played some awful shots yesterday which may cost us the game. Whether Lancs come out with the win in mind is another thing. Ideally they want to leave themselves with maybe an hour or so bowling today and a full day tomorrow. A lead of over 400 should suffice. But then again, are Lancs willing to risk it? If they leave a total of 400+ for Durham to chase, given the pitch, they are running the risk of loosing. Its a tough choice and a hard decision to take for Lancs but I love this stage of a match. It would be better if Durham were not so far behind and as I said from here they are not going to win but its all up to Lancs. Hopefully. Chappel will entertain us all again.

Thorp looked solid with the bat but I dont think that he and Killen have the 23 runs in them we desire to gte the extra batting point.

Anyone at the game will tell you the same about the pitch and the Durham batsmen getting themselves out. I hope Lancs come out and hit a few bounadires early on and start to look as if they are eager to win. There were spells in the first innings where they scored about 3 runs from 10 overs and simply were just defiedning for the sake of it. Breese wasn't making them defend but they were just playing unneccesarily safe. Then Chappel came in and upped the anti and it was a "this is how you do it" salute to those playing too conservatviely.

Thorp has bowled well for us and is the only one to really cause the Lancs batsmen to think. Killen has the best economy but really is finished at this level and whilst Onions has wickets he is too costly and hopefullyqwhen Lewis and Davies return Killen and Onions make way. Thorp is playing well to be dropped and Gibson is taking wickets so add to that Lewis and Davies and its a decent second string attack.

P.s. Plunkett and Colly playing on Monday!

Hamphsire neeed to get an unlikely 300 to beat Sussex, this is the sort of match they really have to win and they have to find those 300 runs from somewhare

I was going to ask you what's happened to Nicky Peng, and it turns out there's a N. Peng playing for Glamorgan today. What happened there, then?

The same Zaheer bowled rubbish when he played a first-calss match for Surrey the last time he played in England.

Maybe, as 'fans' on a pirate forum say, there is a conspiracy by Chappell to keep Zaheer out of the side?

Gypo has his first proper wicket now - but 319-3 + 100 run lead means Yorkshi*e have a bit of a challenge on...

5fer for Alex Murali?

Tremlett has had to leave the pitch with an injury, i really hope its not serious he is just getting back from a long injury and his whole career has been blighted by injuries and it looks like it might be continuing
