great win in the end, 5 dismissals for Sutton, awesome figures for Smith, Saj got 3 wickets, but can't be too happy with his performance when all the other seamers were very economical. Still need that extra batsman though.

Hopefully Hodge will be available for the Worcester game, then Fred is available for the Northants game so the side could be

Chilton*
Loye
Law
Hodge
Flintoff
Crook
Sutton
Chapple
Cork
Smith
Keedy

Certainly a deeper batting order.

Tassie have used Birt as an opener in the one day games, and originally did in FC cricket as well, so it will be interesting to see how he goes in the middle order. So far so good with a solid 42.

I just noticed he took his first FC wicket on the final day of the 4 day game  I don't even know what he bowls, I can't recall him ever rolling the arm over done under.

Ireland hoping to win 4-5 matches this season? No chance! They were appalling. Hampshire gave them 48 extras and they still barely scrapped past 200. Why on earth were Gower and Llyod saying 230 would be a good score that would have a chance of giving them the win..........Have they never seen Ireland bowling before. Do they not realise that they have nothing to offer on attack.....obviously not. 500 runs and Irealnd would have had a chance. Credit to Crawley and Pothas for some enjoyable batting. Again Hampshire will be a force to be reckoned with in One-Day cricket this year

And Logan provided a nice bit of comedy

Interesting, Sajid Mahmood conceded 49 runs from 8 overs today. Lancashires 4 other seamers conceded 44 from 27.4
Hope he is playing this week. It'll be my first chance to get a good look of his bowling in person

Durham v Lancs on Wednesday. After out explosive start to the season the Riverside will be buzzing this week and hopefully we will get some nice sun and good cricket.

Mick Lewis is likely to be fit and ready for us but my question is...shall we bring him in? Whilst someone like Killen is unlikely to win us matches single handedly, Lewis can and especially on the Durham pitches. But Killen did so well down at Kent however he is getting on a bit and may not hold up a full season playing week in week out. I'd put him aside and get Lewis in the side. I dont think Gibson or Onions can be dropped based on last week and Thorp is bowling well lately and looked great in pre-season so maybe he deserves another game. Killen wll be vital as the season goes on

And what about Davies? No word on whether he is fit and ready but I must assume not. If he is that would give selection problems. He played in pre-season and looked a shade of his usual self and apparently wasn't fit for the Kent match but if he is ready to go maybe Thorp will stand aside.

I wouldnt touch the batting line up

Jimmy Maher still has a heck of a lot to proove. He has done nothing in his short spell with us last year and against Kent. The jury is still very much out. Lewis as well does not have a secure spot in the side. I want a good innings from Breesey too and hopefully Pratty's recent form isn't a one-off (well-two off).

Id love to see Ben Harmison play but I cant see them giving him the nod in this game or for some time yet.

Smith is one fire for Lancs and it will be good to see him close up and Chapelle is bowling well too and lets not forget that Lans have a formiddable batting line-up

Cant Wait!

I take it Big Mick was signed up before his tour to South Africa

Jimmy Maher scored runs in the shield final but I don't think he has done much else in recent times.

There are a lot of average cricketers snapped up as overseas players. I hope you aren't paying them too much.

The problem is that many of the international cricketers seeming not to like the current international workload are just not making themselves available for a county season.

Maher had to be bought in at short notice really you can't blame the counties for only securing average overseas players.

Laugh at Lewis all you want but he was fantastic for us last season. I couldn't care less if he gets 0-113 for Aus as long as he performs for us and he has done that.

News today though is that he is unlikely to feature tomorrow. Its not that big of a blow as we did so well against Kent.

Plunkett is apparently playing on Monday in the CGT but having been picked in the England 'A' side he won't be playing in the game a week on Sunday.

Maybe just maybe he will get a look in for the CC Middlesex match

Its been blazing hot here in the north-east for the past few days and I have a horrible feeling that as soon as I step into the Riverside tomorrow the heavens will open

Forecast for the next few days looks pretty damn good Daniel

Lancs squad of 12 for tomorrow.

Chilton*
Sutcliffe
Loye
Law
Horton
Sutton+
Chapple
Cork
Smith
Mahmood
Keedy
Newby

Mahmood in for Newby as the only change from Hants.

From what i hear Lewis isn't going to play for Durham so they'll have an unchanged line-up.

Should be good
