What the One day Format should be:-

C & G Trophy (50 overs Knockout)
Twenty20 ( As it is)
National league (North/South well as it is but 50 overs)

Just got back from the Lancashire friendly(missed 25 overs).

It was my first non-20 day out at domestic cricket and i thought it was great, yesterday i was worried that i'd be the only one in the ground, but the turnout wasn't as bad as i'd expected and it was great to see new faces on both sides.

Gary Keedy bowled as well as any orthodow left armer can, using canny variations in flight and speed to completely bamboozle the Yorkshire players and i thought Lancashire's seam attack were very impressive.

I didn't reallly notice much from the Yorkshire side apart from Mith Claydon who we could hardly hit of the square.

Great day out even though i don't know the final score.

Dave, you weren't the guy in the Lancashire top with 3-Chappel on the back were oyou?

I know it's early doors and only a friendly, but Lancashire look happy to go in with no batting again. We did this time and time again last year - someone thought Chapple could make a proper number six.

Hope Simon Marshall plays tomorrow.

Hodge and Loye were both missing today though - Hodge is missing the first 2 FC games as his wife is due.

I'd hope to see Marshall tomorrow as well, Keedy is obviously in good enough form anyway. If my Flexi wasn't so bad i'd get down there for the second half

What a Line up Lancashire will have. They must be favourites to win the Title, and I think Mark Cosgrove won'y fare to badly for Glamorgan, one because their in Division 2, not as strong bowling line ups as there are in Division 1.

We thought they'd go well a couple of years back and they got relegated. Not holding out much hope, I'm afraid.

Hampshire have a strong team, if they have Pitersen and Warne available its close to the best domestic side in recent times

They will win the CC, Notts 2nds, lancs 3rd

An excellent prediction i must say.

I am still very worried about the top order though and Pieterson wont be availaible for mos matches, still i think they can do it.

So the season officialy starts tomorrow, and the forecast is good for the 4 days.

Lancs start on Tuesday and im not sure what kind of side they will be able to put out. Hodge, Mahmood and Anderson are all missing and Loye is having back trouble, at least Hampshire won't have Warne.

Possible side

Chilton*
Sutcliffe
Horton
Law
Brown/Crook/Croft
Sutton+
Chapple
Cork
Hogg
Newby/Smith
Keedy

From Cricinfo:
Nick Knight to retire at the end of the season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Cricinfo:
Nick Knight has announced that 2006 will be his last season of in first-class cricket. He has spent 11 years with Warwickshire after joining them from Essex in 1995.

Knight, 36, was captain from 2003 to 2005 and led the team to their first County Championship title in nine years in 2004. He has notched up 27 centuries in first-class matches and 22 centuries in one-day matches for Warwickshire and has been the leading run scorer for the county in 1998, 2002 and 2005. In 2005 he reached 10,000 first class runs for Warwickshire in the fewest innings.

Following his decision Knight said: "I feel very lucky to have played the game for this long at both county level, with Essex and Warwickshire, and internationally with England. Having played most of my career at Warwickshire, it is the members, staff and my team-mates I would like to thank the most. I feel the end of the 2006 season is the right time to move on and look to the future. I would like to express my gratitude for all the support and the memories."

The Warwickshire chief executive, Colin Povey, said: "Nick has been a great servant to Warwickshire and the club will miss his contribution both on and off the field. I hope that Nick's last season is a successful one and reflect the outstanding career he has had with the Bears. I am sure I can say that everyone at the Club joins me in wishing Knighty every success in his life outside cricket."

Mark Greatbatch, the director of coaching, added his own endorsement: "Nick has been an integral part of the Club and we fully support his decision to retire. We are lucky to have him for the 2006 season and hopefully we can add some silverware to his collection, which will complete what has been a marvellous career in the game."
