KP has actually been pretty steady against the seamers, except for Shahzad who's probably bowling some pies anyway. Has 85 off 41 balls from Kerrigan though - 8 fours and 5 sixes.

Like I said above been listening to it all afternoon in and he's played a few of wonderful shots off Chappele and smashed Hogg out of the ground, might not have taken to the openers as much as the the other 3 but they've all been given the treatment. When he's in the mood the guys absolute freak and it's been really entertaining listening to it today on the radio.

The funny thing is when Tom Smith was asked how they were going to deal with KP, Smith replied that they would simply give the ball to Kerrigan, hmmmm.

Been something of a coming of age innings by Root, got some much needed support from the lower order and taken the innings to a very respectable total, taken him to his highest first class total.

Bloody hell Root's got his foot down and accelerated gone from 170 odd to 4 short of a double ton in a 6 balls, go on lad.

That's it he got it, 200 up, massive achievement for a 21 year old, especially when the teams only on 328.

Some really good innings for England today. Good sings for both next week and next decade. With Strauss, Pietersen and Root all getting big runs.

It's days like this I regret not going to county cricket more regularly. Especially when it's just a short journey away.

Been listening to it on BBC radio and from by the sounds of it he's batting like a man on a mission, played all his favorite shots and treated all the bowlers for the most part with disdain.
plastic yorkshire fan! j/k

but seriously i was swapping back and forth between the surrey and yorkshire games today. both great knocks. Root's knock was especially good considering a lot of players once they'd put on a few with the tail and get their hundred just have a slog and get out. Root though just kept on going; scoring quickly but not being stupid - it wasn't until a message came out from the dressing room at ~180 that he really had a go. It's great news that even though he's still young he's a mature and a considered head who thinks intelligently about cricket.

Agree, like your good self I had pleasure to flick back and fourth between the two different but equally brilliant double tons. Root really did try to out do KP at one point, he went from 160 to 222 in 36 balls and did a brilliant job getting Yorkshire extra batting points. Like you say for one so young he seems to have his head really screwed on, we were in the mire today and he came out and played a real coming of age innings.

Probably worth mentioning how handy a cricketer Patterson's been for us this season. 24 wickets at 22 with good control and handy innings down the order.
