Is a real shame that they can't play county cricket as non overseas players like they used to.

Shame we can't make it 3 divisions and add Ireland and Scotland in to it full time. That would help them develop.

My knowledge of IPL contracts is that you only get paid for the games for which you are available

Given that he went to the IPL, I’d say that he needs a reconstruction which will keep him out for 12 months so is hoping to battle through until the end of the Ashes

Well either he is facing surgery and a long time out or a shortened career. Whichever one it is Ollie Pope will be captaining the side sooner than we would like.

Ben stokes could be about to become the first captain in Test history to win a match without batting, bowling or keeping wicket.

There's been one instance of a captain getting result wihtout before, in 2007 where Ramnarash Sarwan was captain in a game his side lost after he got injured midway through. The other such matches are all draws with fairly little cricket being played.

They played Stokes in that role at Adelaide iirc and he had Labuschagne in particular in trouble. Maybe the different conditions explain it but Stokes would be a little slower than Tongue so it can be done. And Stokes wasn't even in good form with the ball last ashes.
