Well, they've stated that they'd be happy to. There's all sorts of problems associated with that though - the ground isn't in serious use. Not just pitches, but stands as well. The only thing that'd make this nonsense worse would be if people got injured due to inadaquete stands at The ARG.

And of course, we don't want to have an inadaquete pitch prepared and this same thing happen all over again. That'd be almost as bad.

I think the state of the stands is overblown, IMHO....

It's no worse than what you'd find at some of the minor grounds in the Caribbean.

The pitch is still good, the outfield is much better than North Sound.

the main sticking point is how long will it take SKy to set up?

I'd rather they played a game on a slightly undercooked pitch at the ARG than either play on a dangerous outfield at the Viv Richards stadium or not play at all. They've been netting on it over the last two days, so if you give it another three days or so of prep it might not be all that great a pitch but I think it would definitely be playable on.

The groundstaff who relaid the outfield told the authorities that the outfield wouldn't be ready for this date.

They were ignored.

Won't be a problem for Sky Sports, the worry is for the local broadcasters. Sky are hi-tech, have plenty of channels, can easily accommodate a change of schedule, and have plenty of people to move their equipment.

WI broadcasters inevitably are less well-off though.

no time at all is my guess...pretty much the same as moving from one county ground to another during the English domestic season!

Need to try and get this here imo, hopefully the ARG is up to it

Andy Roberts has been prepping pitches there for a while, and he reckons there's no chance he could prepare anything suitable.

The last thing we need is to ignore an expert and hope for the best for the second time. To have another abandonment would be too much to take.

Aside from the farce of the ground, just how the hell did Panesar get picked again?

Harmison takes 2-49 on a pitch that's totally against his style of bowling, with an LBW wrongfully turned over and he's dropped.

That complete ****ing donkey takes 1-122 whilst a guy who had a Test average of nearly 60 takes 8-108 in the match.

I think the only good thing that can come out of this farce is that every cricket board will now make sure all the venues are fit for test cricket, England will realise that Cardiff isn't fit and change to first ashes test venue to Old Trafford ;)

Cook saying the wickets at ARG have plenty of bounce in them, bigging up Harmison saying he was looking really lively practicing on them...safe to say Jimmy might be fuming again if they play it there.

Jimmy T.K.O. Ian Bell early in the week at practice.
