I may have missed it, but has any indication been given as to who is first choice keeper?
After that, the biggest issue I see is that there is no No.3 selected in the squad (aside from Crawley but he's bound to open with Lees), so either Root plays there or it's between Pope, Lawrence or Bairstow (batting only mode) - unless Stokes fancies it. None of these options seem right somehow.
As for leaving out Broad and Anderson, they can feel hard done by, however, as others have mentioned, there are suggestions all may have not been happy in the dressing room. I have a gut feeling Woakes and Robinson will bowl well in the WI.
As much as I admire Buttler I'm relieved he's probably finished in Tests, he can focus on being one of the finest ODI players ever. Burns and Hameed needed taking out of the spotlight, I think dropping Malan was a harsh call.
Certainly a chance for some players to shine and make a name for themselves if they are up for it.
