One spinner for both sides (England were never going to pick two though I suppose) and West Indies have sent England in. Perhaps not the sort of pitch we've become accustomed to in the WI over the last few years.
Given the conditions Tredwell might actually be effective.tredwell, jesus. just give rashid a twirl.
mate he's not even the best spinner at his county. it's horrendously conservative selection once again, going with the man they know. the man they know to be average.Given the conditions Tredwell might actually be effective.
Though if the WIndies are bowling first....
Yup. The manager's increasing level of idiocy beggars belief.tredwell, jesus. just give rashid a twirl.
You have to see the funny side though, only England would not give him a go in the limited overs format recently which he is very good at, but do in the format that everyone admits is his weakest.mate he's not even the best spinner at his county. it's horrendously conservative selection once again, going with the man they know. the man they know to be average.
Yeah it is crazy but it is just a one test thing.mate he's not even the best spinner at his county. it's horrendously conservative selection once again, going with the man they know. the man they know to be average.
He shouldn't have been in the squad at all over a few over finger spinners, but if the pitch plays as West Indian pitches tend to have over the last few years, he'll probably be a better pick than Rashid anyway. Rashid's advantage over Tredwell is that he can actually bowl threatening deliveries when he lands them.. the pitches here tend to make every accurate delivery with a few revs on it threatening though, and Tredwell's certainly more accurate than Rashid, so he may be the more threatening bowler here after all. The bowlers we've seen this work for (Benn, Craig, Shillingford, Deonarine, Taijul, even Botha and Mahmuduallah to extent) do put more revs on the ball than Tredwell though, so he'd be really testing the limits of this theory.. and the West Indies sending England in has perhaps cast doubts over the pitch being that sort of surface anyway.mate he's not even the best spinner at his county. it's horrendously conservative selection once again, going with the man they know. the man they know to be average.
Yeah if Rashid was going to play here it'd have to be as an allrounder with another spinner in the side IMO. The problem is that Tredwell really shouldn't have been the specialist spinner picked in the squad.you guyys are so ****ing ********. No way you could ever pick Rashid as the only spinner. I said this ages ago and I said it today.
Yeah this entirely. I can't believe they actually picked Tredwell for the squad but it does not really matter, Moeen will be back for the second test anyway.Yeah if Rashid was going to play here it'd have to be as an allrounder with another spinner in the side IMO. The problem is that Tredwell really shouldn't have been the specialist spinner picked in the squad.
We have Root.....Good idea not picking an opener. FFS
