***Official*** England in West Indies 2015

One spinner for both sides (England were never going to pick two though I suppose) and West Indies have sent England in. Perhaps not the sort of pitch we've become accustomed to in the WI over the last few years.

Joke of a side, how the hell can they justify picking Jordan and Tredwell over Rashid and Plunkett?

Going to lose early wickets with us not picking a proper one to partner Cook too. This is a side that smacks of going on the defensive because the coach is under pressure.

Given the conditions Tredwell might actually be effective.

Though if the WIndies are bowling first....
mate he's not even the best spinner at his county. it's horrendously conservative selection once again, going with the man they know. the man they know to be average.

You have to see the funny side though, only England would not give him a go in the limited overs format recently which he is very good at, but do in the format that everyone admits is his weakest.

Cowardly from the West Indies, should not be playing Blackwood, get Bishoo in the side and get Holder to bat at seven.

He shouldn't have been in the squad at all over a few over finger spinners, but if the pitch plays as West Indian pitches tend to have over the last few years, he'll probably be a better pick than Rashid anyway. Rashid's advantage over Tredwell is that he can actually bowl threatening deliveries when he lands them.. the pitches here tend to make every accurate delivery with a few revs on it threatening though, and Tredwell's certainly more accurate than Rashid, so he may be the more threatening bowler here after all. The bowlers we've seen this work for (Benn, Craig, Shillingford, Deonarine, Taijul, even Botha and Mahmuduallah to extent) do put more revs on the ball than Tredwell though, so he'd be really testing the limits of this theory.. and the West Indies sending England in has perhaps cast doubts over the pitch being that sort of surface anyway.

Yeah if Rashid was going to play here it'd have to be as an allrounder with another spinner in the side IMO. The problem is that Tredwell really shouldn't have been the specialist spinner picked in the squad.

Yeah this entirely. I can't believe they actually picked Tredwell for the squad but it does not really matter, Moeen will be back for the second test anyway.

Ali got injured. Will be back by the second Test.

England spinning stocks are ****ing bare, and Tredwell being good at ODI's probably helped him get a call-up. Pretty much like us picking Doherty though.
