I actually feel a bit sorry for Dwayne Smith. He played well on Sunday IMO, much better than he's played in any level of cricket recently.
yep i thought that partnership with chanderpaul in the 1st ODI was crucial in getting the WI going. i dont know how badly hes playing in the domestic games but i still think he deserves a few more chances in the test and one dayers.

Well a couple of months ago he scored a patient century for Barbados in the Carib Beer Cup semi-final. Then he was utterly useless in the final. Twice he came in with Barbados in trouble and both times he tried to play shots straight away, throwing away his wicket eventually.

Update - Game reduced to 46 overs per side

West Indies - 38/2 (11 overs)

Powell 1* (5 balls)
Sarwan 4* (3)

Interesting to see Lara not in yet. The commentators saying that it is because he is worried about his finger and wants the shine to be taken off the ball.

If this is what is happening then Brian Lara is asking for the claims of selfishness to come out again (not my view).

Harmison, again, the pick of the bowlers and a rather erratic but successful first over from Anderson. :)

UPDATE: the match has officially been called off and its rather unlikely that we'll see a full match tomorrow either.
The second match of the double header my club was due to play today was rained out too. Didn't really affect me though, as I played the first and was dropped for the second.

Epic.

It's a rollercoaster world isn't it? I'd liken it loosely to GB and England, Wales, Scotland situation for me. On their own, I don't really like supporting countries other than England but as soon as, for example Colin Jackson (110m sprint hurdler of WR fame) donned the GB shirt as opposed to his Wales gear then I supported him to the hilt.

Having said that, I still support other GB countries if they are playing other countries because that means they will probably compete under GB and do well for us. ;)

Port of RAIN

Sudeep, hang your head in shame.

Yesterday, I did the match report on the second West Indies v England ODI - and I instantly thought about The Rain in Port of Spain runs slowly down the drain but did I use it? No.

Damn. :D

Pity they didn't get on, would've liked to see the King of Spain get a game after missing the 4th Test and 1st 2 ODIs

Yes, because there's a reason for both.

The 1st ODI happened ridiculously close to the 5th Day of a very tiring Test Match.

Then, the scheduling that could very easily end n a 7 match series finishing 1-0 has meant that they're out there unable to play, and losing match fitness.

Well according to the BBC the weather is suppose to be very good today. Maybe the slight chance of light rain but not enough to get the game called off. Now lets hope the ground dries out enough for us to start on time. Sometimes i really wonder why they delay games by an hour....i mean they've had all morning to clear and dry the ground i cant see an extra making much difference in the scheme of things.
