i think when harmison goes to bed tonight, he will feel proud
He will, but I think it's perfectly obvious to the West Indies that they threw it away. They have just gifted someone figures of 7-12. If they had left the ball instead of going at it, he would have been nowhere near that. But they also need to remember that if they play this badly again, it doesn't matter who bowls, if you throw your wickets away, your going to loose.

Damn!

My prediction of 46 is 1 out.

12.3-8-12-7

Not bad for someone who can't bowl...
Never said he can't bowl. But name me one wicket that didn't involve a rash shot or a lapse of concentration?

i think if you look at many of the best bowling figures of all time (and this is one of them),a lot of them will have daft shots played in them etc.

I can't imagine anything more crushing for the West Indies than to be bowled out so cheaply at home by Harmison. It would have been more bearable if England had won due to a dominant batting performance rather than their bowling. At least the Windies would have been able to acknowledge that they had fallen victim to England's apparent strength (i.e. batting). Nothing good can come of this.

all out 47...12.3-8-12-7 for harmison....give him some credit
He was bowling when the West Indies decided to loose their minds. Every edge seemed to go to hand, ever ball that could have been left seemed to be edged. I think I'd be more worried about the West Indies.

Yes but I can't remember any team throwing their wickets away in such a manner. I saw Caddick at Headingly and he was bowling unplayable ball after unplayable ball, this pales in comparison. The commentators are just running through exactly how poorly the West Indies batted, well, the less-baised West Indian commentators of course. One LBW and one drag on (both lapses in concentration) and 8 catches, all rash. Poor Dooje.

Agreed. Nothing good comes from this. The West Indies have shown that when the pressure is on them (and England's lead wasn't massive) they throw their wickets away against bowling which would probably be taken to the cleaners by Australia. But if they actually learn from this, I wouldn't be surprised to see the England bowlers punished later in the series off similer bowling.

Watching it on live TV, I'd say he could have quite easily left that ball, especially in the situation he found himself it. When your side is in trouble, you don't need to have a go at a ball you can leave.

I cant believe england can bowl West Indies out for 47 and so called english fans STILL whining / moaning about something.

Also im slightly dissapointed in Lara giving Hinds the New ball....bit pathetic that.

I don't think he will be the only one. The West Indies will spend the next few days preparing for the next Test by banging their heads against a brick wall.

This is Rik - he's long campaigned against Harmison's place in the England side.

Those of us who've all along said to back the selectors, as maybe they know what they're talking about, are now sitting here quite happy.

Whining? Moaning? What? I'm annoyed that against a bowling attack not noted for it's strength, the West Indies threw away a match due to poor shots. Just because it was England bowling doesn't mean it was good to watch, poor shot after poor shot doesn't make great viewing.

I'm a cricket fan foremost, an England fan 2nd.

Well if i had the choice of watching a brillient game that england lost or a boring one sided affair that england won id ALWAYS take the england winning option.

Of course it would be nice for england to win in a brilliently close match but its never like that.

I had to adjust my monitor when i saw the headline.

Windies have been pittyful for a long time but getting bowled out for 47 by england of all teams AT home is beyond pathetic.

It just really really sad.

All hope is not lost though. In 99 they were all out for 49 against australia and went onto almost beat them,so with this team who knows?

I know id never bet a cent on them though.

One minor problem of course is the day and a half of no cricket that i was looking forward too...but im sure the memories of today which ill take to my grave will more than make up for it ;)
