***Official*** England in South Africa 2015/16

Might as well call it a draw right now. Sure, that won't happen. And for good reasons. But there is nobody really expecting a result, right?

Is this anti-cricket?

Not that I mind a good Hash innings
No this is playing with the series in mind. SA couldn't win this game after england posted 600 but they could save it and keep the series alive and that's what they have been doing.

Great knock from Hash, we've obviously helped but still great powers of concentration. If SA don't look to accelerate now though it is pretty weak imo.

I have always felt that like chess, if the teams feel, they should be able to shake hands and call it a game at any point.

I disagree. Cricket has a lot of spectators and tv audience involved. Personally have never agreed with matches being stopped before the final ball was bowled.

Plus it's a spectator sport..
That too, obviously!

I'm the idiot that bought (in May) last summer's Ashes tickets for Test 3, Day 4 & Test 4, Day 4..... No need to remind me :) .

Anyway, betfair has a South African victory less improbable than an English one. How's that?

Nah you'd be taking out one of the great things about test cricket (ie) a boring test seemingly heading for a draw suddenly bursting into life on day 4/5. It's probably not going to happen here though.

Yeah you always get that in these sort of situations; the team batting last is more likely to win when the game is looking nailed on for a draw. It's hard to imagine a situation in which there's a result that isn't caused by England collapsing in their next innings. If England collapse then a South African victory is much more likely than an English one, and if England don't collapse then they're very unikely to declare at a point where South Africa are still in the game or even really have time to collapse themselves. One of the quirks of Test cricket I guess.

Not really as they would be unwise do agree to a draw with chance of a win still there.
