I do find it a tad strange that Harmison bowls first change these days...

I assume Eng figure that Hoggard is the big swinger and Flintoff has been in good form of late. I suppose I just always associated Harmy with being a newball bowler

Ha, Malik technique for an opener is shocking, dont think it will be too long befroe Woolmer looks for another option to partner Butt. But if he is still opnening when PAK come here next year he'll struggle to get the ball of the sqaure...

their has been a few weird things i have recognised about this series compared to the last time England were their, their has been NO spin at all for the finger spinners i.e Gilo thus he hasn't been effective at all & the ball hasn't been reverse swinging as much as the last time or even as much in the just concluded ashes. Vey Odd :sleep:

Yeah they really do need to start scoring quickly. Pakistan should be looking to notch up at least another 200 and have a day or maybe a bit less than a day to bowl out England. That said, they may not want to put their series lead at stake.

Yeah, that last point is an important one. A decent lead really isn't safe from Pietersen and Flintoff, especially if catches are going to be dropped regularly. Pakistan should be sure that an England win is out of the question before declaring, assuming they last long enough to declare.

I thought a second specialist spinner could have been a good choice for Pakistan all through the series.

Agreed. Malik is a great ODI option but is a bit out of sorts in tests. He needs to work on that, and then he can be a good opener in tests, perhaps not Butt quality though.
