England have 4 bowlers in their lineup that can win matches for them, Pakistan on the other hand will be dependent on Akhtar and Danish.Akhtar will be comming back into the side after a long time and Danish isn't exactly Shane Warne, so i don't see how this Pak team can beat England in Pakistan.
yea england have bowlers who can win them matches & yea pakistan will depend on Akhtar & Kaneria a lot, & even though Akhtar would not have played any tests since last year he his playing CC so he will be in good bowling form .

But this English side is still unproven on sub-continent pitches so regardless of their ashes success their tours to pakistan & to india later will test England to the limit. Pakistan look like a team on the up so if they can play has a strong unit similarly to how England in the ashes, in home conditions they can dalm well be a force......

Question is, which one gets the second spinner's spot behind Giles, and which does the water-carrying? :p
believe me barmey i woudlnt have them in any team. Giles is atleast accurate, which is enough for him to get wickets. Saqlain & small Mush is neither accurate anymore nor are they as affective as they used to be.

Does that qualify them for selection? Or would they need to serve the four years, meaning Mushie would be about 40 and Saqqie about 35 by the time they could be picked.

I'm guessing they'll go for Batty as the second spinner because he's a good fielder and will sub happily!

Well they might be unproven but their mental strength is alot. So they will really get used to it in no time, english team is really firing ATM, thats why i think no one can stop them. AND MARK MY WORDS: ITS NOW THE ERA FOR THE ENGLISH TEAM then hopefully india will be up there in sometime :)

i'll be totally convinced that this could be the era of the English of dominating world cricket in test & ODI's once they do these taks within the next 14 months:

- win both the test & ODI's in PAK

- win both test & ODI's in India

- beat SRI & PAK at home next season & aslo win the ODI's

- do well in the ICC champions

- win the ashes in AUS & challenge australia in the VB series if not win it...

by the way does anyone think some players will opt out of pakistan series for security reasons?
Nope, I dont think they will. IMO couple of reason for that -

1. There isn't really any security threat except may be areas close to Wazirstan.

2. England players badly want to prove that they are capable of winning everywhere and winning in Pakistan is going to be a good motivation for this entire unit and an opportunity to prove they are the best.

3. No player in this english team would want to disrupt the chemistry and balance of this team.

I reckon most English fans don't care that much about ODIs and as long as we continue to succeed in tests (or become very good at limited over stuff) that will probably stay that way. You can use it as a criteria for world domination if you want, but most people will recognise it as a different game. Frankly this post sounds more like you are trying to reassure yourself about Australia's greatness whilst belittling England's possible future achievements in advance.

Of course we will maintain our position in 2020 cricket :)

Agreed. Giles is an active test player, Saqlain on other hand is history now, the guy even has problem in running (he feels pains at knee joint) and is hadly a bowler he used to be.AS for Mushtaq, the last time he played for Pak ended in a disaster. The only reason he is recalled is because Pakistan don't have any talented spinner comming up!

Whoops! That's what happens posting on differing boards, one gets confused and forgets the rules occasionally.

(would be hilariously ironic if my post was reported, what?)

Sozza.

Well the last time he was called was becuase he got some wickets in county in england, now the same is happening and PCB thinks he should be recalled again :D

Definetly, India has some good emerging players and by some time (maybe 5/6 months) we can become very near enough to no1.

Possibly, although India's away form is nothing short of abysmal....

They really struggle at times versus Zim, something that you cant really see England doing for example.
