How about reading the relevant stuff, which was :- "benign pitch offering little to the bowlers. "
And I said that the preferable pitch would offer something to everyone - but I do think that a road is preferable than a greentop.

And obviously offering 'little' to the bowlers is same as offering something to everyone (i.e. bowlers & batsmen). Must be my english...damn I gotta start taking my lessons again 8-)

but I do think that a road is preferable than a greentop.
Well that is your opinion..not mine. To me both are extreme, one was assisting the batsmen the other was assisting the bowlers.

And if you can quote me where I said I wanted a road, I'd be glad to hear it.

He's (Sarwan) hardly done anything of note against the top sides. All I remember is one admittedly quite sublime century against the Aussies when they chased down 418.
I had to check Cricinfo, but he's made four 100's against SA and one against England, plus a number of other 80's & 90's against those sides. He also did well in SL. Sure his average has been boosted by easy runs against Bang & Zim, and, to be honest, he's been less consistent than I'd thought, but still not bad for a 25 year old. I'd happily have him at number 4 for us this series.

How about the following from two posts above :-

refering to colingwoods quote '' england will win 3-0 '' - obviously any senior member of the team has to make such comments in order to boost the morale of the team. however, from a third persons view, i doubt it.

i rekon pak will win 1-0 from the tests, and kaniera will shine. on home turf advantage and weather conditions suited pak are more likely the favourites to win.

England can live without Vaughan, his batting has gone to pot since he became captain and his captaincy doesn't make that much of a difference.
Now that's what you can call pure ignorance!

I agree we wont miss his batting at all, but his captaincy was one of the main reasons we've done so well lately. He commands TOTAL respect from his team more than any other captain i know in world cricket today. Not even Ponting has so much respect. Players will go that extra mile just for him and thats something NO ONE can replace.

Why does everyone get upset when someone says they're trying to win all the games?
.

He said that England WILL win 3-0 and not that they will try to win 3-0!!!

There is no point denying that fact that England are a better team and well poised to win the test series, but a 3-0 whitewash was NEVER a realistic possibility, especially since England are going to play in Pakistan and most of the member (including the one claiming the 3-0 win) have never played in Pakistan before.

The only problem with such statements are that if results don't go upto expectations then one do end up looking stupid at the end of series!

Completely agreed.

whoever think that captaincy wouldn't make any difference is living in fool's paradise.

Whilst Vaughan isnt the world's best no. 3, he adds stability to the lineup, just as with his captaincy (already there is talk of KP going to 4, Bell going to 3 or 5, etc).

One of the big positives for Eng recently has been consistency of selection. It will be interesting to see whether the dynamics of the team change with a different lineup.

Did he actually say that, or did the media misrepresent the facts?

Think back to McGrath's comments pre-Ashes and how they were reported...

well even though England have lost this warm-up game & the form of most of the batsmen are a bit worrying i still believe once the test begin the poms will lift, look back at what happened before the ashes almost everyplayer wasn't in that great form for their counties & the initial Bangladesh test & they liftted their game for the ashes.

Also with the possiblity of Vaughan not playing on saturday is a serious blow to england, it really is & now that Shah & Key are all injured its an even more of an headache, fingers cross he plays he is a very inspirational player indeed...

I read that in newspaper, it can be a case of media misinpretation though.

That's for sure, they are a good team and in test matches they will prove to be a totally different side from the one that played the side matches.

What did you expect him to say? "Er, yeah, we aren't actually aiming to win all our games, we'd quite like to draw a couple, and the odd loss would be nice..."

Come on... 8-)
because theres no other answer to that question isnt it? how about what vaughan said before the ashes, focus on playing well session by session and see where they are at the end of the game?

Neil Pickup said:
Oh, and with Shah & Key out, it's got to be Joyce hasn't it?
and whos going to open the batting in the last test assuming vaughan is still unfit?

Well its not guaranteed Strauss will miss the last test? but i do believe Pietersen opened for England A when he hit 3 centuries vs India a few years ago. Could be a good shout :)

Hi Guyz this is my first post here though i have been visiting this forum quite regularly. On the subject of Collingwood saying they will try to win 3-0 i wonder how you englist guyz would react if someone like Asim kamal(considering colllingwood is not an established player) would react if he says that we will look to win 4-0 when Pakistan visits England next summer. The British media would have ripped him apart and i can imagine these Lucky Eddys and Marcs and Neil Pickups coming up with their funny 1-liners and irritating all the Pakistani Posters on this forum.

well why whine over it? Pakistan are ranked at the very bottom of icc test ranking, its natural for the English players to expect a 3-0 whitewash against such a weak team
