Bear in mind our usual top 7 would read Tres, Strauss, Vaughan, KP, Fred, Colly, Jones. That gets rid of two of them. Personally I think you're wrong about Colly, so that gets rid of another. But I do agree that Jones' ODI batting is poor at best.

Subject to injury, your team is probably their best and still not good enough to beat the best consistently.

Sorry, misread your post. I thought you were dismissing the four of them as all being not good enough. Then I saw the "there's room for 2 at most" bit.

I think Collingwood is very over-rated. When you take out his performances against minnow sides, his average goes from 32.4 down to 26.4, and his bowling from 37.1 to 42.7.
He may have a reputation as a finisher and all that, but he does it far too sporadically...England should be looking for someone better. Interestingly, Solanki averages more when you take out performances against minnow sides. His average goes from 27.4 to 31.7.

Part of what gets him in the side is his fielding and his running between the wickets. I've never rated him that highly, but he can do a job.
