Inzamam almost the victim of another most unusual runout. The ball was driven back towards the bowler, was booted up by the bowler, hit Inzamam in the box, came down and went on, and could have hit his wicket while he was way out of his ground. Incredible.

Discuss.
Inzy > any English batsmen.

Yousuf > Vaughan, Bell, probably Pietersen, and Flintoff.

Strauss and Trescothick > Yousuf - but Strauss only marginally.

How about,

Inzamam > Any English Batsmen
Yusuf = Trescothick
Yusuf > Strauss, Vaughn etc

My God I love watching these two bat, particularly when they bat together. Yousuf is just a joy to watch when he's batting well. His off drives and leg glances are just awesome. And Inzamam is just brilliant at picking the gaps. The way he'd just punch the ball off the back foot to wherever he wants it to go is great.

The fact that they have ten 50 run partnerships in test match cricket is amazing. They do it often against India too :@ :p

Over the last two years, Trescothick > most batsmen in the world, so I'd say career-wise Yousuf = Trescothick so far, but I expect Trescothick to overtake Yousuf soon, and I would rather have him in my team. I probably only rate Strauss as highly as I do because he's English. :p

Fair enough. I would probably lean towards treso over yusuf too, he has been incredibly consistent of late.

a. he's not :p ; and

b. he's averaged about 35 for 2005.

Strauss' average has dropped appreciably this year and will continue to do so until he sorts out his footwork.

Haha that looks the only way Inzy is going to go out. Either an unusual run out like in the 2nd test, or if he decides to leave a ball on middle stump again. Otherwise, he could score another ton.

You're right - in his last 10 Tests he averages 31.00. I had picked up that he didn't seem to be moving his feet as much, actually. He needs to sort that out.

One big eye-opener for me in this game is the realisation of how far Jimmy Anderson's stock has fallen.

Whilst Plunkett did well in the lead-up game and has taken a wicket here, he is barely more than medium pace and hasnt moved a ball off the straight and narrow.

Obviously, he has ability but he looks well short of Anderson's quality (that I remember anyhow) at present.

He also has a habit of making foolish shuffling prods to gully. But now Harmison has bullied him some more, and he looks to be injured. His arm is badly hurt.

Got to agree here. Anderson would have been a much better bet and it was surprising to see plunket get the nod ahead of him, especially considering anderson seems to have a physcological edge over some of the pak batsmen.

Inzamam's right forearm is quite swollen, he can't put his glove on, and he has gone off retired hurt. Let's hope that he didn't break the bone. Raza is in, and most likely will soon be out.

Could be a match turner.
