What's the situation with razzaq?

There was thought he'd make this test, any chance of the next one?

It would be good timing with Afridi gone.
Havent heard much about him, seems unlikely at the moment!!! They might just play asim kamal??

I think Afridi's punishment is fair. He supposedly showed remorse in the hearing as well, so he knows he did a stupid thing. What a pointless thing to do though! Pakistan were firmly in control, Afridi had provided the fireworks on his test recall and Pakistan hardly needed the controversy. What's more, he should've known that that dance routine was hardly going to damage the pitch that seriously. In the end though, there are a lot of kids in Pakistan who look up to him, and Afridi should've known better than to resort to that.

How exactly was it - pretty much everyone on here says there is a frame where the bat isn't in and the bails are off.QUOTE]

Not that I saw.

It was one of those between frames ones where you can't be sure the bails have been fully dislodged in one frame (even though they probably were) and the stumps had been hit.

Then on the next frame the bat was in. It's not the first time I've seen them have to be turned down on proof, even though logic suggested it was out.

I have no problems with cybernetic parts ( provided they make em superior to human parts- not achieved currently) and if the human body isnt good enough anymore, i wouldnt mind transferring my conciousness to a mechanical body(Again, provided the technology exists).
To argue otherwise is to argue senselessly.
Indeed, the very use of prosthetics in humanity is evidenced enough that the spirit of cybernetics is well underway.
Whether you like it or not, human beings have always complimented themselves with instruments as needed and in many fields, human beings have been replaced simply because they arnt good enough anymore.
And again, whether you like it or not, the human error in the game, is ultimately, a shortcomming of the game.
Since the human errors do not balance out ( it cannot, as there is no such thing as a perfect distribution of errors-it is mathematically impossible actually), cricket would be the winner if onfield umpires got their power cut off with respect to run outs, catches and lbws.
And yet again, whether you like it or not, the fact remains that cricket is the winner with the introduction of technology so far - as well as the fanbase.
Run outs are rarely controversial anymore ( atleast compared to in the pre- 3rd umpire days).
The point is, traditions have no reason to survive once they are outdated and actually holds back the artform/humanity.
Superb post.

You can't prove anything with Bell. There's no doubt whatsoever about the twinkle toed cheat who got off very lightly as expected. The message from cricket should be heard loud and clear, cheats do prosper.
Got off lightly?? Voww.. thats a first.

if i saw shahid rite now id tell him off his career is finally taking off and hes one of the most valuable players in world cricket, why a guy who has so much experience did a thing absloutely bewilders me.

Anyway it was probably a rush of blood which isnt common with shahid i just hope his remorse was genuine and the type of character he is suggests taht he is then he will learn from it and come back a better person. As someone said a lot of kids not only in pakistan but all over the world look up to him and he really needs to set a better example.

Lets hope he can appeal his ban and get away with just the one test.

By the way there is absolutley no way england are winning this test whoever thought that was a possibility im telling you its not.

That pitch is like pennant hills road in sydney

Five and half hours 'til play starts. I may give the first couple of hours a miss in the morning although I have a feeling England might be forced to follow on, or at least fall short of the follow on target. Whether it would be enforced is another matter.

Good night.

No more so than someone being dismissed off a no ball...

How exactly? no ball can be geniune mistake from the umpire, where as this was lack of knowledge and total incompetence.

I think Inzy showed his class by not saying anything about the incident except expressing surprise and to think someone suggesting on this thread that Inzy may have orderd the Michael Jackson twirl from Afridi. I do'nt think so.

It was a genuine mistake though, unless you're going to insinuate it was intentional?

What else could he do after being caught on camera!

Well the Shoaib pitch roughing incident has reminded me to rank Pakistan as most hated team. I thought they'd evolved from picking at the ball as they did 5-10 years ago, but obviously nothing has changed. The PCB can still limit a lot of the damage if they ban Afridi for a long time, but as far as I'm concerned this Test series should be abandoned, 2 chuckers in the first Test and now this.
If we start abandoning a series like this then the Ashes series should also have been abandoned as Ponting was very unhappy with some of Vaughan's tactics!

Afridi did an ugly thing and got banned, the guys who chucked the ball got the bans too, what else do you want now????

The one that got away is only and only BELL!!

AS far as the most hated team is concerned, i think some ppl would like to add the name of England too.Pakistani team is obviously not very popular in England, likewise English team is not very popular in Subcontinent.

Well...Afridi has got what he deserved IMO. One Test and 2 ODIs seems fair to me.
Bell has gotten away with his 'catch', or so it seems. It's doubtful that he'll be punished for it now, but my respect for him is gone.
Inzy seems to have handled everything very well, particularly his dismissal at the hands of ignorant officials. I still cannot fathom how an international umpire can be unaware of the laws of the game.
I've been reading Mick Coward's Cricket Beyond the Bazaar. He writes quite a bit on tours to Pakistan (primarily about Australian tours, but touches on England as well) and makes the point that a lot of the Western teams that tour Pakistan go in with a 'siege' mentality expecting things to go wrong. With this sort of mentality, it's not surprise that tours of Pakistan are full of controversy - teams aren't even willing to give the country a chance.
