There was a double whammy for me when I was reprimanded after the game for failing to appeal as I celebrated when Salman Butt edged me behind in the second innings. Apparently, I didn’t turn around to check that the umpire had given him out and that has cost me 20 per cent of my match fee. All donations to the usual address please.

ICC*:

Chucking is fine, abysmal over rates in Tests are fine, just don't forget to appeal or you'll be fined.

Scaly,
Why so angry all the time? Did your parents forget to give you hugs and kisses when you were growing up?

Actually, he's right. Being fined 20% of your match fee for forgetting to appeal and just celebrating because it's so obvious he's out in your opinion is ridiculous.

ICC doing their best to ruin all sorts of fun in cricket.

No,England would've lost the game even if so called "chuckers" had not played. The same 6 wickets would've been taken by some other bowler(s) incase Shabbir & Malik were not playing.
Actually we have no way of saying that.

Both are offences and have been treated as the rule book states.

End of story.

It's up there with the football law about a yellow card for celebrating though.

It's like winning the lottery but then getting fined for cheering before the announcer announces the numbers for a second time.

The point was the rule book is wrong - I haven't got anything against the chuckers rule, but being fined 20% for such trivial offences is ridiculous.

Which both? As for the 'rule book' it's the ICC that makes the book up as it goes along and so that doesn't change anything I said. The ICC are the equivalent of the tosser police brigades in parts of Britain that find the safest, straightest roads on an incline and stick a speed camera at the bottom of the slope - just like the police, the ICC should be concerned with the bigger issues like the pathetic over rates that could be improved dramatically overnight if they bothered to penalise teams properly.

But if it hadn't been out on the occasion, for some reason or other...

The rule is in place, so it must be stuck to.

No, but no two of them have been able to manage 600.
TEST -
Kapil Dev - 434, Anil Kumble - 465 ( Total - 899)

Harbhajan Singh - 205, Anil Kumble 465 (Total - 670) :p

ODIs -

Kumble - 326, Srinath - 315 (Total - 641) (apparently that is more than the Mcgrath/Warne) :p

Didn't apply to Murali though, did it? The rule was wrong, it got changed. The same should apply here.
Oh come on....totally different situation. You'd actually have an argument if EVERY bowler got away with celebrating a wicket without appealing and Hoggard was singled out - as happened to Murali with the chucking controversy - however, this is clearly not the case...

Does this stupid rule over not appealing just cover the bowler? If not Geraint could be fined a small nation's national debt with the number of times he just throws the ball in the air after he 'catches' it.

For the record I don't doubt the ICC are reasonably consistent over this rule, it just doesn't alter the fact that it's a load of nonsense.
