***Official*** England in Pakistan

and face it, Sami did take key wickets in the second innings
Oh, he did. But judging by his overall game, those two wickets were an exception (in case of Pieterson, suicide) not the rule. Can we expect him to take two important wickets when the situation asks for it, again? On his current form, I have to say no.

Besides, Pakistani lower-order for this test was probably their worst in the last 10 years. It almost proved to be their undoing. They cannot afford to go in the second test with someone like Shoaib or Sami coming in at eight. Afridi is the only logical choice, as far as I am concerned.

Beleg, looking at your Pakistani line-up, why do you keep insisting we use three spinners and only two seamers? If not Sami, Razzaq would be a good choice.

man I feel bad for not taking a bet at the TAB, that Pak would get through with the victory, when I looked this morning, Pak were at 4.35 or sumthing and England were 1.15. Those odds were a bit ridiculous.

Well, what a win! I certainly didn't expect this today, but Pakistan have shown what they can do when they get it right. Very impressed with Shoaib, not only did he bowl well, he kept coming in at top speed and showed a lot of commitment with the bat as well. It looks as if he's finally sorted his attitude out. Kaneria was excellent, as expected. Flintoff and KP...brainless, but excellent bowling nonetheless.
For the next game, I'd like to see the side that Beleg posted...England have always been shaky against leg-spinners, and Afridi provides a LOT more in the batting and bowling department over Sami, despite his bowling today.

Isn't Razzaq injured?

I was tempted to have a bet with a mate, but pulled out. I'm a bit of a gambler so it was a bit odd for me to not have a wager. Pretty cut at myself. Probably wanted to save my money seeing as I have a huge poker game coming up Friday night.

That was REALLY surprising. I expected Akhtar to come out and just swing and get out like he did in Australia last summer. Instead he grinded it out and stayed there a while.

Heh. You both reached that post before I did. Can I have my way with howardj when you are finished? :p
OK, but we could be a while...

(I'm sure he'll take this in the good nature in which it's intended. :p)

I just realized something. This is Pakistan's first Test win against England at home in 18 years!!! The last one being the test where Qadir was unleashed on England and took 13 wickets.

Congrats to all Pak fans on the forum, Pakistan won the match because of team work and were the deserving winners. However at the same time i believe England played good cricket in the first test match and didn't deserve to loose.

Pak will make only one change in next match, Afridi will come in in place of Hasan Raza.

I still think that Sami should be dropped(even though he bowled well in 2nd innings) and should be replaced by Gul or Asif

great win, one of the best tests i have ever witnessed. was extra special for me because pak was once again the underdogs in this series and england were at the top of the game for the better part of this match.

for next test i hope abdul razzaq is fit. i'd like to seem the abdul/afridi combo play in the next game in place for hasan/sami. hasan has done nothing wrong by getting out cheap both times, but we really need an afridi's legspin and his overall pumped-up attitude. Sami had that great one spell, however, that has exactly been his problem. those spells are too few and far. i'd like to see abdul in his place. and if his elbow isnt coming good [as some reports suggest] then sami's spot shd go to rana IMO.
