Because that's the way Duncan Fletcher does business. He did it with Bell during the Ashes too (2nd Test). If a player fails in the first innings, that's no reason to shaft him down the order the second time around (unless he's a tailender/night-watchman). Even if the situation is tough, you show confidence in your players and ask them to do the job once more. IMO it's the right way to go.
good reasoning Liam, very well said...

If either of these two batsmen remain at the crease until lunch, this match is over..With Eng 1-0. So Pakistani bowlers better get their act together and get these two gentlemen out. :)

I actually think the collapse is either Neil's or Bush's fault. That's just basic intuition though.

Freddie succumbing to old habits.

Game became a bit harder with Sami bowling early 90s, so he has a slog.

I have observed this quite often that whenever India and Pakistan are playing simultaneously and one of them is doing badly the other performs well (i.e. today it seems like India is struggling...) :)

Ha, this is funny Sami is just like Lee, they have what it takes to be good test bowlers but sometimes they bowl some real ignorance, i'm sure Pakistani's must be saying why cant he bowl like this all the time.

They should bring Shoaib Malik from the other side and put some pressure on KP and GI Jones.
