What the hell is going on with their running?

EDIT: Butt was given not out. It was pretty much out though. Whew!! Flintoff on now.

WTF indeed.

That was out. There's no doubt in my mind about that. The bails had been dislodged in the second last frame - just because they weren't flying high in the air doesn't mean it wasn't out.

Pakistan should thank their lucky stars.

Might as well forget about technology then.
That's appalling. You have an excuse in the middle in real time for LBWs and nicks, but seeing it 20 times in slo-mo from different angles suggests to me you ought to be able to get it right.

The words "gross incompetence" come to mind.

BTW,

I am watching the match with the audio off - what are the commentators saying about this?

wtf :-O , who the hell is that 3rd umpire
My thoughts exactly.

Butt and Inzy both tried to give their wickets away in that over and Butt was definitely gone.

Oh yeah, Butt was most definitely gone. I was already holding my head before the light came on.

He better capitilise on this lucky break.

Would be interesting to hear Michael Holding's take on that decision.

I think it was closer than you are all making out.

turn up the voulume, or dont u have that?
If I could turn up the volume I would have no need to ask you guys. I am watching via PTV and they insist on inflicting their own brand of commentators on us - listening to them for more than five minutes is liable to send you with a potentially lethal bout of dementia.

Why?

The seperate frames showed quite clearly that the bails had been dislodged before Butt was able to drag his bat 'inside' the crease.

Wait til this Test is finished before picking the team for the next one. Who knows, Bell might actually get a big lbw shout or a bowled off a delivery that isn't a no-ball, or one of his horrid scoop shots might not just fall safe. For a guy that supposedly 'played well' he had far too many lucky escapes.
Rather than the bloke who's scratched around and got out cheaply every time he's batted in Tests...

Really?

With the batsman 3 inches short of the line, the stumps are disturbed. I suppose the only argument could be 'is it out if the bails haven't actually fallen off yet?' - but if you apply that, you have just thrown away the evidence of 1000 close decisions of the past.
