Based on one innings where the ball didn't do squat and he had all day to bat - and had several lucky escapes before making an earth-shattering 71. Oh let me guess, only Bell is allowed to attract a decent delivery - whereas Collingwood gets to bat in a no-win situation (yet again).
Of course, Colly could have survived and scored a double hundred tomorrow.

Would that be a win?

Well if Pakistan had caught their catches then the decision (good or bad - he was a long way forward and the ball turned pretty sharply) wouldn't have mattered.
Didnt see Tresco get dropped but I didnt watch all of it.

The lbw was out but, from what I saw, that was the only piece of luck he had.

Tresco was dropped by the keeper. Only a half chance though. The LBW of course, remains speculation. I'm sure you would agree that to reach an opinion based solely on a front on shot is not likely to be conclusive.

If you weren't so damned predictable, it'd be funny. Because you are so damned predictable, it's hilarious.

The ball that did for Bell was a beauty, but that's not the point.

I was hoping Collingwood was going to do really well, because I recognise that he's got an enormous amount of guts, and that goes a long way with me (and that hour he battled in the final test against the Aussies went a long way to helping us win the Ashes).

However, that delivery he got out to was not a threatening ball in any way, shape or form. It was about as threatening as the one Ponting bowled to get rid of Vaughan, but of course he had just played a quite brilliant knock of 160-odd and was in relatively 'unknown territory' given his recent form, so might have been tired.

Saying that, Paul Collingwood today had batted for an hour so he might also be regarded as having got into 'unknown territory' too, at least as far as tests are concerned.

yeah see thats the thing with Collingwood, he tries hard, i just don't think he's good enough to score hundreds at test level, he's also pretty limited

he is ok and a useful player for england to have around...not really worth getting het up over.

so i get the idea that you all think england can just post a massive first innings score and then spend have 1 and a half days to get rid of pakistan.

If Tres stays in anything is possible. England will be looking to bat once or at least chase not much more than 150, which might be tricky against the Dane on a wearing pitch. Well played England.

I reckon (i.e. hope) we're looking at 500, with a Trescothick double, but the new ball's key to that.

You know it's a good pitch when guys are driving on the up, with such ease. To that end, how good does Trescothick look! He doesn't even look half done with his innings yet.

That was Katich. He was on 57 at Trent Bridge for the Ponting one.

To tell the truth, for all Tresco's obvious fault, he's fast approaching 'world class' status in my eyes.

Amazing brain-melt. Yes, you're dead right.

It was the 'Ah, pie. Where shall I hit this? Oh, there's Glenn. Yoo hoo, sledger. Fancy a beer tonight? Oops' ball.

I feel very down today and its not completley due to the match situation .i find 2 very worrying signs for Pakistan.

1. Shoaib is bowling straight up and down stuff
2. England are picking kaneria without any fuss

If these two dont stand up then v r looking for a possible 3-0 whitewash because i dont think these batsman are gonna save us from Freddie and co .
