If you can honestly see us getting 300, you're more of an optimist than me. I wouldn't put money on us reaching 3 figures right now.
Wouldn't want to predict anything at present TBH, but wouldn't want to completely rule-out us getting 300 nonetheless.

Highest score from 4 or less for 3 is 394. West Indies vs India somewhere.

Blimey, a wide.

Basically, if Bell and Pietersen don't put-on at least 200 I'd be very surprised if we didn't lose this game. And even if they do, Collingwood and Ambrose still need to score a heap.

That's what you when none of your bowlers can bat.

You're only three wickets down! You remind me of a certain Indian pessimist that always ****s up the mood in Indian threads.
Yeah, 15 for 3 is such a triumph, isn't it

Anyway, the thing that's becoming increasingly apparent is how many of England's batsmen are in decline. Cook, KP & Bell all look worse than 12 months ago. Vaughan obviously isn't what he was, ditto Strauss, but exponentially more so. At least in times gone by, you could blame the performances on the selectors cast-of-thousands approach, but this lot just seem to be collectively losing it.

It's 394, West Indies against India at Queens Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. They made that score thanks to a 237 run partnership between Larry Gomes and Clive Lloyd.

Your Vaughan asessment is particularly hasty, IMO. Vaughan should not be opening. Cook, Bell and Pietersen will almost certainly be back at some point, there's no good reason to presume they won't, and I presume we won't be seeing Strauss in a Test shirt again after this game - certainly hope not, unless he faces about 1,000,000 bowling-machine balls and learns to drive on the ground.

Elliott on, none of the NZ coms have ever seen him bowl, interestingly. Shortest run-up I've ever seen for a seamer, but still capable of hitting 80mph.

The Wheel is Forever
Cricinfo is brutal (can't believe I have to read commentary instead of watching tbh) on this guy...said gentle twice in the same over.

Southee  I know its a bit early to say I told you so. But I think he is showing us that he was the right guy to choose.

Sheeysh, Elliot(t) might be 20mph-ish quicker than me, but his run-up is near enough exactly the same length. I've opened the bowling alongside 15-year-olds with longer runs.
