Well I hope he got to look at his performance against Kumble .
I'm not watching the match, it was just a general comment towards the fact that if he wasn't absolutely into himself he probably wouldn't be so successful. His batting relies on confidence and eye, he will always have the eye [until age deteriorates it] and his arrogance allows him to always have the confidence.

Granted, form is never permanent.

Really if Kumble can bowl great deliveries like that on these flat tracks and fox the English batsman, you have to wonder why we aren't serving up even minor turners. I can't understand the pitch preparation in this series.

We served up turners against SL, who have Murali in their team. Yet we prepare flat tracks for England?

Best to ignore Deano when he gets in those rambling moods. I mean seriously, worst thing you see on a cricket field?

Almost had Freddy caught at mid-on there. Kumble doing well.

Spot on, and whilst as an Englishman ordinarly I prefer calm assurance and false modesty :) it's refreshing to have someone in the team with unadulerated self-belief. We just need to bring back Corky now and we'd be cooking on gas.

They have a box to put helmets in at the MCG. But they just put it in there when it's not needed at all, not inbetween overs.

Interesting start with Chawla, I guess the thing is that being such a flight bowler, he doesn't get much turn so when someone really goes after him, he is rarely going to turn it past the outside edge.

Supposition, but it might be something to do with not wanting to scuff the ball and bring the reverse skills of Fred and Jonah (who would've toured if not for the latest injury) into it.
I think India wanted to play to their batting strengths, pile on the runs and then put pressure on England with our (supposed) problems with spin.

Sanz, I think against Australia at home. :)
Nah it was against South Africa at Kanpur where Andrew Hall got a ton opening the batting, the very next test India played after the Mumbai match against Australia.

The bowling attack was Kumble, Harbhajan, Kartik, Zaheer and Ganguly (who opened the bowling). I distinctly remember this test because it was the one that Pathan was dropped for in favour of Zaheer.
