Why? There are better spinners in England than Blackwell and better bats (not to mention more mobile fielders). Blackwell plays because he can do a bit of both, but in all honesty, neither to the standard required. I'm sure he'll give his all and perhaps get some decent results now and then (like Collingwood has tried and got his results), but he's not of the quality to forge a successful international career.
He's like Alan Smith really.

Well thats quick enough ! What I thought he needs to do is bowl some slower ones :)

Seriously.

However, if Yuvraj is fit, then they might still go with four bowlers. I don't really see how you can keep any of the other batsman out.
If five bowlers is what the team needs then one batsman has to go whether we like it or not. The problem will be if Laxman scores a hundred AND they want five bowlers :)

Even then they will have to drop a batsman. When Australia had all the batsmen available and an embarassment of riches just a year or so ago they still dropped one of them even if they were amongst the runs.

Dont we drop a spinner (even if bowling well) if we want to play the fast bowlers and vice versa. You first decide what the team needs and then see who best fit into that scheme of things. If you have 13 men who are qualified for the job, be delighted and then show your mettle as "the boss" and make the choice and then be brave enough not to look back. As long as the team interest is the sole criteria you should rest easy with your decisions.

I thought that looked like not out. Now the match gets very interesting, not that it hasn't already been absorbing.

Dravid LBW to Hoggard early after playing and missing twice. Anyone watching on TV to offer an opinion? BBC radio says it was out and a good decision.

Will change back once Barca stride over Chelsea.

Also, that shout from Flintoff on Jaffer looked out for me! Plumb IMO.

Close shout from Freddy coming around the wicket. Boy did that ball come back in!

Jaffer survives though, and now he's into the 80s.

Lol, od reactions here...

On the radio they're saying that Dravid's was out and Jaffer's was not out.

Well, he's caught now at slip. GREAT start by England! :)
