If you remove Plunkett, Tremlett, ...QUOTE]

thats debatable...
Well the selectors clearly see Plunkett ahead of him, and they've not made that many bad calls recently.

Tremlett's injury means we can't see either way, but they've shown they rate him ahead of Jimmy as well.

Ask any Worcestershire fan - they can't all be bad judges of a player, can they?

(looks up, sees Kabir Ali, withdraws point)
Damn you!

You're just jealous that we actually HAVE players near the England squad :D

Actually though, does anyone think that Fletchers just waiting to see if Panesar has made progress with the bat and fielding before they make the decision on the 3rd spinner, you can tell graveneys desperate to have him in. I tend to think with Fletcher its all down to the attitude of the player and the willingness to try to improve all aspects of their game, most England players nowadays operate pretty much up to the optimum of their talents.

If Loudons doosra is a chuck, what a waste of a tour place that was 8-)

the selectors aren't gods so they can make mistakes having seeing all three of them bowl i still reckon Anderson is the better bowler overall slightly, the only reason i reckon Plunkett has gotten the nod over him for the test is batting ability i'm sure.

I'm not sure that they rate Tremlett over him though, after all Anderson was preffered over him for the Oval test.

Why on earth is Prior in the test squad? Is anyone seriously suggesting he's a test keeper or top 3 batsman?
why on earth not? forget about the test class keeper thing, prior has scored runs in the subcontinent on all of his A tours and did a decent job in the few chances that he got in the first class games in pakistan. based on what we've seen from vaughan and strauss recently, id say hes at least worth his weight as a back up.

can you tell me whats so good about plunkett? yes hes quite clearly a prodigy after averaging nearly 40 and going at 6.6 runs an over against pakistan.
and the only thing tremlett is done in international cricket is take wickets against bangladesh.
im not a big fan of anderson, but at least he outbowled plunkett in pakistan and averaged in the mid 20s with the ball, not to mention that he looks to have matured in terms of accuracy at least.

Solanki who's been a failure throughout his career you mean?
true.
btw heres a quick question for you, who averaged more than tresco, strauss, collingwood, prior and geraint jones in the recent series against pakistan?
but then again im sure the selectors were right to have dropped their 2nd best batsman on tour.

well no, has i said before him along with Gilo were ineffective in PAK due to those roads down their which they didn't get much assistance form the pitches, in India he will get assistance, so i think its fair to at least give him 1 more chance.
lets forget for a while that udal is absolute horse manure with the ball.
is there really a point in having a 37 year old bowler with no future in the side despite clearly being nothing special?

no, but you see the England selectors aren't one's to drop people like that, i am not surprised at all the they retained him in the squad.

either way it was a poor choice to have had him on the tour to pakistan ITFP.

Since you've made it quite clear which county you support, and also shown your blind faith for Australian cricketers, I'll take the selector's view thanks.

I say he's going to be absolute quality - and that's good enough for me. A far, far better prospect than Flintoff was - and he turned out all right.

OK, I said Flintoff would be rubbish, but I'm working on the premise that if I was so wrong with him (and Hick, and Rampers, and Corky, and Rikki, and Thorpe, and Lewis) I'm bound to get one right sooner or later.

I can feel it in your bones.

blind faith?, you mind explaining this crap. But has i said at this stage i still think Anderson is the better bowler of the 3.

Plunkett i think will make a good name for himself as a good ODI (and maybe test) bowling-all rounder in the style of craig white.

I doubt he's going to become the next botham/flintoff style true allrounder.

In my opinion tremlett will never live up to the hype because:

- He gets sod all bounce if someone as lanky as him.
- Not super-quick
- Not the all-rounder hampshire seem to think he is.
- Loses his rhythm under pressure
- Only maintains his place due his dad being the coach.
- Too many injuries.

If he can prove me wrong i won't be that disappointed but i just don't think he will.
