Is that because you can't formulate one?

Fact is plenty of kids recently have grown up watching us getting hammered by the Aussies and not supported Australia as a result.

He kept that quiet. Is the thread where this was revealed still available?
No idea. Would probably take some searching.

Think it was revealed a while ago, but you haven't been around much lately, so you probably missed it.

well with Trescothick out for the 1st test dont know if he is going to be out for the entire 3 test, but hopefully all the rest who have little injury woes recover in time so that they could play in nagpur. I wouldn't guess what the team would be like because really anything is possible at this stage.
He's not definitely out of the 1st Test yet, although he probably will be.

Even though I disagree with aussie's glory-huntership, I think that people (that means you Halsey) should stick to talking about cricket on this thread.

Is Monty Panesar bowling well? I haven't seen any of him but his figures aren't impressive.

Apparently he's impressed far more than Blackwell, but Blackwell's got the wickets.

He hasn't got much of a bowl has he?

I never saw him last year, but his championship record was fantastic.

Not that I want to get involved in this, but for the record, I was another one of them.

Read somewhere that Fletcher feared he was going to be nervous and get hammered in his first match and so told him to bowl flat and fast.

Blackwell gave the ball plenty of air and took four wickets.

Some might suggest this was all a deliberate plan by Fletcher to get Blackwell into the test team (Vaughan allegedly prefers somebody who has some sort of reputation as something other than a fat slogger) but I couldn't possibly comment.

My only comment (other than aussie obviously knows there's something not quite right about it since he allowed the impression he was an australian to remain for so long) is that for most people supporting your country is about something deeper than just which team's colours are prettier. Supporting your national team is IMO what national sport is all about.

Well fair enough if that was the case. I certainly always thought he was Australian. There were long conversations prior to the Pakistan tour about whether it was valid to support two national teams (people queried him using the word "we" when talking about England) which seemed to be conducted entirely on the basis that aussie was Australian. Still I guess if he thought everyone knew then he wouldn't see much reason to correct a wrong impression he wasn't aware he was giving...

Why don't you guys create a new thread arguing about Flintoff's all-time great all-rounder status instead of clogging up a England-India series thread?

The Indian selectors have had to make two close calls.

Pace Bowler --- Vikram Singh or Munaf Patel? Selectors choose Vikram Singh.
warm-up match ~ singh 1-108, patel 10-91

Opening Batsman --- Gautam Gambhir or Wasim Jaffer? Selectors chose Wasim Jaffer.
warm-up match ~ gambhir 108 & 22*, jaffer 48 & 4

I know that figures don't indicate everything and that this was just a warm-up match, but the selectors really need to wait until the end of the warm-up matches to announce the team. They look rather stupid at the moment.

Jaffer has 3 matches to make an impact, otherwise I think Gambhir will be back for good. His exclusion might have been a good wake-up call for him to make big scores.

VR Singh and Munaf Patel both deserved a call-up but so did Sreesanth, and RP Singh couldn't be dropped. Still, seeing Munaf run through the side and knowing that he's not in the test team stings a little.
