But he's already behind Cook, who isn't as good a batsman.
I've seen a lot of Shah and he simply isn't a test quality batsman, he's very pleasing on the eye when playing well but I dunno if he could handle the pressures of test match cricket. I'd much rather see Joyce given the call.

I wouldn't.

He was amazing last year, and deserves his place iMO.
So was Cook. Road or not, not any old journeyman can go and score 200 against Australia at the strike rate he did. Wasn't exactly shabby in the Championship either.

Plus, Cook is younger.

No it wasn't, he played brilliantly all year. It was just an example.

Where have you got the impression that Shah has ever impressed for England before?

Made a great 62 in the ODI match against Pakistan.

So you supported them because they hammered England in the OT Test of 1997, then.

If you weren't old enough to make a judgement, why didn't you change who you supported once you could make a judgement?
no i supported them because i liked the players & the way they played got me interested in cricket in the 1st place, it wasn't like if england were such a great team then, and i wont change because if it weren't for that game i would have been an adamant football fan today. Dont see the big fuss so just drop it, but knowing you people on CW this stress will continue..

I really can't understand why it's such a big deal that he supports Australia. So he decided to support the Aussies, what difference does it make? There are plenty of people who support teams not from their birth country or country of origin....there's nothing wrong with it.
exactly, has i've said before i'm not the only one who supports other teams not from birth or origin but yet i'm the only one that gets stupidly attacked, CW got some odd people..

It was the Ashes that got me interested in cricket too, and guess what? Australia hammered England when I watched my first game of cricket too.

well with Trescothick out for the 1st test dont know if he is going to be out for the entire 3 test, but hopefully all the rest who have little injury woes recover in time so that they could play in nagpur. I wouldn't guess what the team would be like because really anything is possible at this stage.
