Probably because he reckoned that England's quicks would be far more of a handful in conditions on the 1st morning on this wicket that their spinners are likely to be on Day 5. By the time India get to bat, all the juice will have been sucked from the pitch, and they should have no problem saving the game, or even setting up a win if England collapse tomorrow morning. If India needed to win, he would probably have batted first. As they don't, he probably thought there was less chance of India losing batting second.Anil said:india need to take quick wickets on the second day or this test match could slip away real fast.....why did dravid have to insert the opposition in the one time he won the toss?
no worries mate..luckyeddie said:Perhaps it wasn't you.

Or he could have just bollixed it up.wpdavid said:Probably because he reckoned that England's quicks would be far more of a handful in conditions on the 1st morning on this wicket that their spinners are likely to be on Day 5. Well yes, there is always that possibility. I think that his thinking was probably along the lines I suggested, but I think that he never thought we'd pass 200 for only one wicket. So whilst I think I understand his thought process, I think he did in fact get it wrong.luckyeddie said:Or he could have just bollixed it up.
If RMcD's thought processes were owt like as convoluted as that, there's every chance he confused the pants off himself.wpdavid said:Well yes, there is always that possibility. Unlucky when half of his wickets have been umpiring errors?viktor said:Well, he has been bowling decently in the current series. Has been a little unlucky, I think.
It shows he batted more than 10 overs.open365 said:I fail to see how opening affected the dismal shot he played to get out.
How does it?open365 said:The ashes? Proves my point.
By a slim margin no doubt, it doesn't alter the fact Collingwood averages 42.91 against Test opposition and when you remove Bell's freebies against Bangladesh he averages 30.77. It's a no-brainer unless you're a rabid Warwicks fan - especially if you've seen Bell bat for England.marc71178 said:Bell is the highest runscorer this winter yet still seems to be the most in threat...
There's 4 whole days to go.Scaly piscine said:Heh @ match odds on cricinfo (bet365)... they've got India 12/5, England 13/5... ridiculous. How the hell can India be favourites (ignoring the draw)?
They can't be fav's but they can still win the match. If they can bowl out England for a score of say 350, and then go on and take a 75-100 run lead then i would back India to win the match .Scaly piscine said:Heh @ match odds on cricinfo (bet365)... they've got India 12/5, England 13/5... ridiculous. Uhh yeah, but you do make plans based upon expectations of your own team and the other team. Dravid's decision wouldn't look so bad if Pathan didn't bowl tripe with the new ball. Frankly, the English top-order (Strauss) exceeded the expectations they had set through this series and the Indian new-ball attack didn't live up to the expectations that have been built thus far in this series (after the impressive showings from Sreesanth and Munaf).IndianByHeart said:Never under estimate your opponents, thats the rule in cricket.Dravid probably did that when he won the toss and asked England to bat, how costly this mistake will be remains to be seen.If India manages to bowl out Eng for 350-375, then its fine, anything above that would be troublesome.
oh oh.scriptkidd said:never count India out, they are going to get Eng all out today (2nd day). I am sure they are pumped up after a dismal performance yesterday. visit my blog if u want streams to watch the match. http://www.cricketstreams.blogspot.com
