***Official*** England in India

Hmm.. Interestingly poised.. It all depends on Dravid, Dhoni and Pathan... But I'd be putting my money on a draw.. Even if England do take the wickets, I doubt they'd have the balls to declare in time to make the match competitive..

Cheers!

I'm not so sure - I'd wager Fred's a pretty bold captain. He's a pretty bold everything else. Will be a very interesting day tomorrow, for sure. :)

Is it just me or does Monty Panesar have a larger fan following than Harbhajan Singh in Punjab?
He's bowling better than Harbhajan, so why shouldn't he?

Depends on how many India get really. Generously assuming there are 200 overs left in the game that's a lot of play left. England need a first innings lead to have a realistic chance of winning I think, otherwise there'll be <150 overs left and England would have to bat most of those to be able to make a declaration - of course England could get bowled out and return the favour and win that way. India can win even if they don't have a first innings lead - if they bowl out England cheaply they'll have the opportunity to chase a target down.

Seeing the bounce England were getting, i cant see India will risk having anything other than a dust bowl for the 3rd test.

India should bat no more than 50-60 overs tommorow because i dont see them gettin england out in less than 100 overs. To win, india should get another 250 runs on the board. In dat way, if they want to chase a total down on the 5th day, it will be easier. But, to be honest, i dont see india getting 250 runs. All indian fans, cross ur fingers and hope 4 da best!!!!!

Obviously his form isn't all that at the moment but I think you're being a bit harsh about him today, Freddie just done him good and proper with an excellent ball.

Sachin seemed very heavy on his feet - terribly slow to get in line. Perhaps he doesn't really relish the short stuff any more?

Does that count as a drop? I think he's done phenomenally well to even get the tip of the glove onto that!
Since it was Jones it has to go down as the worst drop ever...

What, so at current run rate, India will be on 150-ish and 150 behind at end of Day Two.

Another two sessions to get upto near England's score then try bowl England out in 2 sessions and have 2 sessions to get whatever runs are left?
Changes to thoughts after the last session?

Anyone feel like risking foot in mouth disease and guessing the result of this game?

I really haven't got a clue. :D

Hats off to him. That is a quite incredible stat. :)
Another Flintoff-related stat that seems to have gone relatively un-noticed is his batting this series - certainly answered a few critics I'd say.

Simon Barnes wrote a quite superb article on Freddie in The Times last week - the usual fears about him having too much thrust upon his shoulders and the dangers of burnout before The Ashes, but acknowledging that the more England ask him to do, the better he becomes. The difficulty of course is striking the right balance.

anyway this morning i decided instead of getting up and watching on tv i'd listen to the first session on my digital radio. It was good to listen to the likes of Boycott, Aggers and CMJ, but i think that Bedi is an absolutely awful commentator, talks rubbish for most of the time, was actually so annoyed at his commentating i had to get up and watch it on tv.

My predictions, India to make about 320 tomorrow, Dravid ton, England all out for 209 second dig, exciting chase in the last 2 sessions of day 5

Sachin isn't even 33 yet. still he has played 131 tests so far and 362 ODIs, at that age Kapil had only 113 test and 176 ODIs, it simply means he has played 18 more tests and 186 more ODIs than Kapil played at 33 and Kapil was much stronger and one of the fittest cricketer ever.

The more you watch Sachin the more you feel that he has lost it, if not physically then mentally, at least in the longer version of the game.
