Interesting story there. Looks like Keaton and his dad "decided" he should try and get into England rather than South Africa because there was "so much talent up ahead" in South Africa. Given that most English posters seem to be ok with guys from other countries playing for England coz "England is where they developed as cricketers", what would that mean in this case? Clearly the guy lead RSA Under 19 and was obviously coached well within RSA.

Jennings mum is from Sunderland. So has every right to play for us.

Only had to re-qualify down to his U19 commitments.

Yeah, it would have been a good opportunity for Duckett to regain a bit of confidence whereas dropping him from the format he's been quite good at so far (admittedly very early days) could easily damage his confidence instead. Not a decision I agree with.

Especially after Hales/Morgan didn't think playing for England was worthy of their time. Despite both of them playing in Bangladesh before with no issue.

Duckett isn't as good an ODI bat as any of those in the squad picked as batsmen imo. So I don't think he can have many complaints. I think he'll probably glad of a break also out of the spotlight. Opportune time for him to spend some time with the lions tightening his game up a bit. I think they picked one too many batsman anyway.

Yeah, it seems really harsh on the surface but he doesn't deserve to be ahead of the other specialist bats in the pecking order; he hasn't so much been dropped as he's just failed to force his way ahead of the established players ahead of him yet. The alternative would've been carrying him around with no intention of playing him.

FWIW, I think he has every right to play for whoever he wants provided he meets the qualification requirements.

I feel it's a bit odd that we all have this either-or catch when evaluating players like Jennings. Either they must have some lineage to our country to be acceptable, or they must have learnt their cricket there, in which case where their parents come from doesn't matter.

In this day and age though, people have more multi-cultural backgrounds, live in different countries, and have the freedom to move around and learn the game from different systems and coaches and cultures. I think in the near future we're going to see a lot more athletes across all sports who will develop and train in more places than just the country they were born in, and who could also meet the legal requirements to represent more than one country as well. It's going to be interesting to see what people's attitudes are towards such players, when our 'either-or' catch doesn't fully cover them

I ****ing hate slow turners. They just lead to boring draws. Teams can easily block out 100s of overs of spin when it is real slow. I would take a vicious ICC reportable turner over that anyday and I think so would England, in the present state of the series. Would give them as good a shot at levelling the series or at least pulling one back as any track other than a 2 day test greentop you get sometimes in England.
