Wasn't even close... waiting for the backlash in the ODIs now, but - come on England, don't you have *any* reserve bowlers?!

Thompson Included In 14

The CW XI Selection Panel has announced a squad of 14 to contest the first 3 One Day Internationals against England. Brendon Goff retains the captaincy, with Neil Pickup his deputy.

Of special interest is the inclusion o the uncapped Callum Thompson, who acts as injury cover for Marc Robbins for the first ODI. Rewarded for his top form this Dev Season is Daniel Towns, whilst veteran allrounder Reuben Verghese is recalled.

Nathan Hoy and Kyle Wright have been retained from the ODI team that played in India, whilst Dave Watt has been recalled as we look to build toward the World Cup. Kearsley, Butler and Markus represent an inexperienced, yet talented batting trio for the future, whilst Camps and Pickup add experience to the bowling attack.

On the back of his fine hundred in the tour match, Chaulk does the wicketkeeping duties, and Marc Robbins is due to join the squad from the second ODI onward.

As always, it's a great honour to be selected for the squad. And with both Kyle and myself in there, looks like Hancock and McNamara are going to be doing their jobs in the Dev League and will possibly be fielding the first 100% rookie side for many seasons!

Very happy to be retained for the ODI side and can't wait to get stuck into the England side. Congratulations to Daniel for making the side, your selection is more than justified. Congratulations to everyone else also.

grateful for the selectors for retaining their faith in me despite some good performances by some youngsters in the competition this year.

Looking to form a new and very fruitful opening partnership at the top of the list with Chaulky..

Should be a cracker of a series

my tips:
Leading run scorer: A Chaulk

Result: 4-3 CWXI win

Must say it's surprising to get recalled into the ODI squad/team given my Dev League 1D form over the past 2 seasons - I had accepted the fact I was going to play a full season of Dev League.

Congrats goes out to the fellow squad members who made the cut and I'll be looking forward to a good series to re-kindle some form in the shorter aspect of the game.

1st ODI - Cricket Web XI vs England
at the PDV Dome

Welcome to the PDV Dome for a day-night affair to kick start what should be a fantastic ODI series. England won the Test series by a comfortable margin of 3-1, but they now meet a significantly better CW outfit, as the pyjama game begins.

Runners-up at the last World Cup, the Cricket Web XI has been a very exciting team in limited overs cricket, and with confidence gained in the last two Test matches, the keen desire for revenge will be even sweeter.

The Dome is closed for today's match, and the pitch looks to be good for batting.

Michael Vaughan has won the toss, and England will bat first.

The Webheads boast an inexperienced lineup, as they look forward to the World Cup. This game is the first that CW cricket will embrace the new SuperSub rule, as well as institute powerplays. Everything seems primed for a fascinating first One Day Internation. Let's head to the middle...

Interesting scorecard to say the least, I can't really fathom Trescothick carrying his bat and scoring that slowly. Good win though. Can we get details of the use of the supersub and powerplays?
