*Official* England in Australia (2 T20 & 7 ODIs)

Think Johnson is bowling Dougeh out of Australia's XI for the worldcup with his performance here today and can't help but think that would be a mistake.
Would've thought Johnson was in the box seat anyway, Bollinger's form in India notwithstanding.

The Australians appear very concerned about the over rate. Hussey and Crayfish are running back to the bowling mark. Surely it's just easier to bowl them out?

Indeed.

Worth noting that probably the main contributor is the fact that we've actually bowled about 40 overs worth of deliveries by now.

Not quite sure 'bout this. Surely with the new ball and 7 down, this is the time to give Dougeh another burst?
I think its an over-rate issue....

Also would like to ask the English fans that why has Plunkett gone off the radar completly after the 2007 world cup, he definitely seemed like a pretty exciting prospect when he last toured Australia.

Johnson's form in ODI cricket over the last 12-18 months has been piss-poor, whereas Dougeh pretty much has been our go-to man during that period.

In a place like India if Mitch is gonna just run in and test the center of the pitch ball after ball (which is exactly what I think he is likely to do) then he is gonna get flogged.

dougeh's never been in the first XI. they've been planning to play tait, mj and lee since they announced the squad. (i personally reckon they weren't gonna pick lee at all but as we know he starred in the first match and tait didn't play and so doherty got squeezed out and now lee is a certain starter but unlike MJ if he has a couple of bad games he will go out of the team for dougeh)

that was kinda confusing sorry guys

Think it was just a question of him not making the best of his chances when they came (he was introduced at a very young age), others moving ahead of him in the pecking order (Broad, Bresnan, Onions, Finn, etc) and his domestic form not quite being good enough to move him back into contention.

Still only 25 tho, so has plenty of time.

Tait too quick for Plunkett. Decent knock though, need to give the guy some credit for travelling halfway across the globe to play a once off game. England have good depth considering he must be 8th or 9th in line for a pace bowlers spot.

Taity is vital to our worldcup hopes becuase it seems he is the only bowler in our ranks capable of bowling full and straight.

Sometimes Doug Bollinger appears to bowl with no plan at all. Just bangs the ball in on a length. Needs to be better than this in India.

Why is Yardy's List A batting record so unbelievably ****? He's obviously not even close to being an ODI standard specialist bat but he looks like he'd be a real gun in one day county cricket and his record is terrible. He's a proper opening bat with a good record in four-day stuff too. Odd.

Don't think Dougeh is fit, he was so good when it came to bowling accurate yorkers and bumpers at the death but at present he virtually is bowling like a bowling machine set to bowl just one length, having said that its pretty much the same with most Aussie quicks these days and probably Cooley has something to do with it.
