Why is Healy always sounding so cranky these days... as if he wasn't annoying enough in the first place!!
He's got the ****s because Australia have played this summer with lack of discipline and spirit, I think.

At least that's my take in it. Ian Healy was such a hard working, disciplined exponent of his cricket. It would be burning his cheese no end the way the test team performed this summer.

Has Lee officially retired from Tests?

What would a par score on this wicket be?

That is the worst review ever. Terrible waste at the start of the innings. Prior has a terrible technique to face the new ball, a liability for England.
The really painful thing is that is sooo obvious Prior's not an opener's arse in any format & has been for ages. Why were runs down the order in tests suddenly deemed to be an indicator of a player's suitability for opening in ODIs?

But the review. WTF? Just shown it on replay. Was only hitting 3/4 up middle and leg. Sheesh.

Any reason why England were so good at tests but so poor at ODI's?
It's because a lot of our best peformers in tests (Prior, Cook & Trott, to an extent) don't have strengths that transfer well to to the limited overs formats. Prior's very orthodox so his areas are easy to cut off (scores a lot of his runs behind square on the off side, so a good backwards point is vital for him) and the other two are accumulators whose test games reply om discipline and waiting for the bad ball.

Lol Colly, possibly the worst 1 (2) in history
Just gone, IMHO. Been a great player for us, especially limited overs, but his game's in pieces.

Apparently the cut-off date for announcing WC squads was dictated by the publisher of the official tournament magazine

Guys like Yardy, Prior, etc should thank their lucky stars for such a ludicrous decision
Prior was a Hail Mary, but Yardy's been part of our thinking for at least a year. Given Tredwell's (deemed to be) our #3 spinner it shows you how hard up we are for twirlers. Although Rashid might have a word or two to say about the pecking order.

England won't even get close to winning the world cup in the sub-continental conditions if they play like this.

Yes.

It's hard to say. England could get away with 220 or something, but it's hard to say. The Trott/Wright partnership was a wasted opportunity imo.

What had Davies done to not be selected for the WC squad? Didn't seem too bad and has the performance at county level (as an opener) to back it up.

Haha, Tremlett. Deserves to go for that ****, even if he had just sneaked in. Terrible.

Apparently Prior "Suits our aggressive fielding unit" more. Which I think is media speak for "Is more of a gob****e behind the stumps".

As spurious reasons go, it's a doosie.

England all out now.

Is 215 defendable? With a decent bowling lineup it probably is, but England have 1 guy who isn't much chop at OD cricket (Tremlett), 2 batting all-rounders (Wright, Yardy) and a rookie (Woakes).

It'll take a mammoth effort, this pitch is flat.

This is the sort of match where I don't really mind having Clarke in our batting lineup. Hopefully someone in the top 3 can stick around and Clarke can rotate the strike (as well as hitting several dot balls straight to the fielder).

I think we really should win this, England are about 30 runs short of being in with a chance.

(Andy Flower) He wasn't aggressive enough.

Phwoar, that's a poor reason. It's the WC. half the teams won't speak English as a first language let alone understand whatever sledges it is that Prior's trying to send their way FFS. Still, when it comes to the aggression that actually counts, you'd think they go with the bloke average 30+ and striking over 100.

All the same, I'd still give my left nut for your selection panel atm.
