Superb to win that one, Goff and Moerk were sensational. Great to see Kearsley return to the team!

Blah, bowling terrible. Good support from the other guys though I have to find some form =S

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Geeze, Halsey gunned it in two matches, as did Pickup for the entire series. A brilliant effort, there.

Not exactly easy figures on the eyes for the pacemen. Maybe it's time to tour a seam friendly nation like England or NZ? :p

Pickup MOTS for mine. Mørk had an awesome series as well. Congrats to Mamesh on his maiden hundred and the one he followed it up with. Congrats to Wilson on a good debut tour, as well.

As opposed to spin-friendly South Africa? :p

Ouch ... totally feeling sorry for the awseome pace trio in Kennett / Watt / Thomas.

Those figures are so unjust to three extremely good pacemen :(

Pretty insane figures for Hakon ... especially as he mentioned he was fighting for a place ;) :O

Decent series from a few players, with a few standouts that's for sure. Wilson did alright for his debut ... batting @ 22 and bowling at 30 aint too bad for a first up effort! :D

Really happy with taht win boys. Doesnt matter if its a dead match, to win in that fashion was great. So dissapointed to get a duck, shattered infact. Coming in at the time didnt help though.

Well done boys. Cya all next tour (maybe :D) lol

Good luck ODI team.

If we can all fire on the one day we'd be very hard to beat, we just couldn't seem to play at our best until the last match and even that we can improve on. Good luck to the squad for the one day series.

When does club cricket start btw?

Well, what a great win - realy performed there (when it didn't matter...)

However, 3-2 loss > 4-1 or 3-1 loss, and our losses were all reasonably tight.

Happy personally.

Being trying to follow the series over the phone with Tharmi as much as possible with no Internet access until now. I would of liked to been their for the live sim, apparently it was quality.

Looks like the guys played really well, a 3-2 loss isn't what we really wanted, but looking at the matches we lost we really did push them hard and it could have gone either way. I think we might have found a winning formula but, bat last and chase down any total. I remember when we played Australia, me and Hak chased a small but hard total to win a Test. Then against Pakistan Rob and Liam lead us to a win chasing another hard total. Then in the 3rd Test and 5th Test we hard to chase some run a ball totals and we got over the line both times.

I was a bit surprised when i heard Wilson got a start over Liam, but he did a great job and looks like a very good prospect for the Test team. Halsey what a gun, first he rocks onto the stage in the ODIs and now his taking all before him at Test level. Also it was a big series for Hak, really finding his feet at Test level, two very good Test Series in a row.

On a personal note im really happy with my series, after the Pakistan series i stated to question whether i was good enough to play at this level. But i think i've proven to myself and hopefully the selectors im good enough to play Test Cricket. Scoring one hundred was nice, but to score two in a series was really unexpected. Hopefully I can start to score some big runs when the team needs it and win some Tests for us.

Anyway better stop rambling. Good luck to the ODI side, but im sure you wont need it, especially with Cloete back.

Damn we're good. Really top notch performance touring South Africa. Could have been even better with a bit more luck really. Great match from Hak and well done to Blewy, nice effort from Pickup and Halsey too. Happy with my 88, a ton woulda been nice though.

Absolutely brilliant series' from Hakon and Neil though, a top effort from Thamba and Blewy as well and Halsey was sensational in his two matches. Fairly happy with my series, though converting some more of those statrs to 50's or 100's would have been nice, and very helpful.

Overall, it's not a win, but it's a successful series IMO.

Review of Test Series

As a Test Nation grows there are always some major series in the development of a nation. Two seasons ago CricketWeb won its first series against Sri Lanka. After that series CricketWeb drew two its next three series 1-1 against the West Indies and Australia. Many felt the nation had finally awoken from its Test Cricket slumber, but unfortunately feel back into its out habits with a 2-1 series lost to Pakistan.

This series against South Africa was a chance for Cricket Web to show their development as a Test nation was just not a one off and they had truly landed on the world stage. At the end of the five Test matches Cricket Web showed that they truly a force to be reckon with on the Test stage. A 3-2 series was not the result the Webheads wanted, but at this stage of development the nation is at, the score line is only secondary to performances that the team put together.

Four out of the five tests were nail bitting encounters and could have gone either way, with the final Test the only one sided match, which Cricket Web won by nine wickets. What was the secret to the improved performances of the team, they played as team. In the past the Webhead have relied mainly on the likes of Cloete, Pickup and lately Kennett and Goff to lead them to wins, but during this series six to seven players stepped up when needed.

The team performance stated at the top of the order with Mørk and Mamesh having their best two series at the top of order. Both had major questions over their position in the side with Fitzsimmons and Young push hard for recalls. But both answered with 2 centuries a piece to finish at the top of the run scores for CricketWeb with 517 and 432 runs respectively.

The middle order was once again lead by the experience duo of Cloete and Goff, who scored 384 and 420 runs respectively at over 40. Dauth wasn’t as prolific as the other two, but finished with a respectable 266 runs at 29. Dauth will be looking to convert a few more of his starts into hundreds if his going to keep the host of middle batsmen pushing for Test spots at bay. Chris Butler probably had one of the worst returns so far in his Test career only scoring 140 and will be looking for a bucket of runs in club cricket to keep Kearsley from taking his middle order spot long term.

The man who probably had the hardest job throughout the series was rookie all rounder Mike Wilson. After the dropping of veteran Liam Camps it was clear that the selectors were looking for an all rounder who could significantly with both bat and ball. Wilson showed he had potential to play that role with some important contributions with bat and ball, finishing with 198 runs @ 22 and 10 wickets @ under 30. Most noticeably Wilson was the pick of the Webhead seamers.

Playing on the bouncy tracks of South Africa, many didn’t expect much of the Cricket Web spinners, but the duo of Halsey and Pickup proved to be the secret weapons of the Webheads finishing with a combined total of 44 wickets under 20. After the partnership they have already shown in ODIs, these two spinners could be the guys to take Cricket Web game to another level.

Now onto the pace attack, probably the only real disappointed of the series. After promising so much after brilliant tours of Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia, many thought that in David Kennett the Webheads have found a world class seamer to partner Pickup. But after two fairly disappointing series against Pakistan and now South Africa, there are major questions over his position in the side, especially after being dropped for final Test.

After waiting six long seasons to make his debut and taking 5-fer in his first Test, the Webheads thought they found their Mike Hussey. But four long test later and a return of 11 wickets at 50, Watt will have to put in some big performances to gain another call up.

Greg Thomas probably the only specialist quick to finish with reasonable figures with 13 wickets @ 37, continues his up and down start to his Test career. The extra aggression he provides is something no other seamers in the country provide outside Trav Demeza, but until he until he put together consistency with that aggression, he will never get the most out of his potential at Test level.

Overall the series was a major success with the team performing well as a unit, but to finish off teams like South Africa there are some major areas that need to be worked on. The lower middle order batsmen need to convert their starts more often into bigger scores. The success of the top teams in that any one of the top six or seven, can win you games. The pace attack needs to perform more consistently and provide greater support to the spinners. But the platform is there for this side, to dominant Test Cricket in the same way the One Day side does.

Runs, wickets and averages should be correct. The lack of a hundred was an oversight.
