Cloete recalled to full strength ODI squad
Andrew Cloete has been recalled to the Cricket Web XI one-day international squad, having emerged from retirement earlier this month. Cloete announced his retirement back in 2011 (Season 8) and has since become one of the leading one-day batsmen in Development League cricket, leading to a renewed passion for the form of the game and a return to the grey and gold. Cloete has scored 2445 ODI runs at an average of 42.16.
Also returning to the squad, having missed the ODI series against Zimbabwe, are Neil Pickup, Marc Robbins, Rob Dauth, Ian Markus and Nath Patrick. Batsmen David Kearsley and Arunava Das miss out on selection, and allrounder Sean Fuller is also excluded despite a fine series with the bat against Zimbabwe.
For his efforts at the top of the order in recent games, Daniel Towns has been retained in the squad, but reports are that he may be asked to bat in the middle order if utilized. Kyle Wright is expected to join Dave Watt with the new ball in the series, as he is retained following a solid showing his last time out.
Cricket Web XI ODI squad:
BJ Goff (c), NS Pickup (vc), A Crampton (wk), I Markus, AP Cloete, LA Camps, CR Butler, MW DeSilva, RJ Dauth, TC Halsey, MJ Robbins, NL Patrick, DJ Watt, KS Wright, DP Towns.
