Nice to see I'm behind several schoolkids in the pecking order.
Schoolkids who unless I'm very much mistaken, are all county age group players. Besides, you just admitted to not being able to actually play. :p

You saw me face out an over of Rich H, then on the 3rd ball of the next over (by Pickup) just, well yeah...8-)

It's justified. :p

Yeah, who are these kids?
Tarick (Kweek) has played age-group cricket for Holland and (I think) was on the fringes of making the Under-19 World Cup squad. He's played cricket in Holland with several top internationals.

Not too sure about the rest. Tom (Open365) is a decent fast bowler, Alex (The Baconator) is a keeper/batsman and I'm a legspinner (not as good as the others though).

Interesting. Ill be passing through the UK twice during Aug and will be in Bulgaria in Sept and willing to travel.

Would love to play a game. Ill see how it fits schedule wise.

PS Alternatively have a CW tour and play the Bulgarian national side? :) (obviously not practical but pretty cool)

The problem with your playing will be the fact that you're so much better than the rest of us, and instead of me having the choice of villages in the country to find as hosts, I'll have to find somewhere with a decent track and decent batting order, ergo wrecking the rest of our chances of taking wickets/making runs. Hakon's already volunteered to be scorer; you can come umpire...

As for Bulgaria on tour... well, maybe in a few years. We could also do the World Ice Cricket Championships in Estonia, which is a £300 trip - maybe a few years' time with a slightly older squad...

Bulgaria, 12.50 GBP each way to Sofia from Luton and you can stay at mine :) Cheap beers and therefore the whole trip for under 50 quid. :-O

PS I USED to be good. Im retired now and firmly on the downside. I dont think me playing would be a problem. Plus I need some cheap wickets and easy runs :p

Right, 2007.

This thread, aside from making Phoenix Fire look really bloody silly, has given me the spark of an idea.

Last summer we got 10 CWers together in Birmingham and messed around with an incrediball for an afternoon. This summer, why can't we get 11 together, find a willing club in the Midlands to host us one Sunday in August, and play as the Cricket Web XI for the first time?

As is obvious from the history of CW meetups, nothing happens unless I organise it, so shotgun the captaincy. What I want to know is: who will in the UK next summer and willing to spend one Sunday afternoon representing Cricket Web on the field of play?
I'll be in England in late June, early July.. Up for it during those dates..

hah chuffed to be the top rated player, although I expect Goughy is a better bowler than myself..

I will need a place to stay, and I'll probably make a long weekend off it.
can't really miss the money...that's all.

You can bat, can't you? We might need you, no one else can...
Don't count on me being avaliable for stuff, my family does a lot of travelling and stuff, but I'll see what I can do.

I'd be ok with offering free accommodation to you, as it's more than likely to be in the Birmingham area, would mean barely any travelling required.

TT could be up this, not the greatest and any sign of pace or movement and my concrete feet won’t last long but give me a Mickey Mouse spinner and I usually take them down town with ease. Held my own with a couple of first class cricketers until I lost the plot when I was fifteen. Also I’m in good shape and an excellent fielder/runner between the wickets which is always good to have in any side. Though the ability to run the 100 metres in 11 seconds has usually led to me getting run out and chucked off a couple of cricket teams over the years.

My greatest cricketing achievement was making 31* in a game of tip-and-run. The team made about 50, and 4 out of 8 people were run out.
