Well if it's a batsman, it could be any of the folowing (assuming they're an international):

Gibbs (please!)
AB de V (please!)
Rudolph
Kallis (pleasepleaseplease!)
The van Jaarsveld who isn't Martin, can't remember his name
Amla
Prince
McKenzie
Dippenaar
Duminy

That's just off the top of my head, not too strong on SA cricket though so I've probably missed out a few possibles. I'm off to check to SCCC website now, will let you know if they have any announcement.

Vaughn v.J won't be coming to Somerset yet, he's a bit of an unknown who only I've really been raving about.. As long as it isn't Amla or Prince I'd be chuffed to bits.. Dippenaar or AB would be storming though

Is Derby within reason?

(actually don't answer that - there's no reason in Derby).

Is Derby too far?
Not sure. Time-wise how far is it from Guildford? My geography isn't too good.

Rich - I just joined the SCCC forums on the official website to try to find out who the new guy is, and there's a thread about GCS and Langeveldt. The picture that's in your avatar is in there, and someone called John Fuller mentioned in response to someone saying "that's a good photo" that it was taken by a "young lad who takes them for southwestcricket.com and emails me a few every now and again".

Would that "young lad" be you? :D

Still no news though, still looking.
yes it is, i'll check it out

A touch over three hours by train.
That's about right. Get yourself up to St Pancras (London) and it's about an hour and a half from there (may be longer on a Sunday, of course). We can all meet at the railway station and get a taxi (it's walkable to the ground but would take half an hour or so)

You said we'd take a taxi at Bristol...

Somehow, it's two and a half hours from Cleethorpes on t'choo-choo. Only costing me £12, though.

I like walking.

Can you afford £12? Won't you have to take another student loan out? :p

Incidentally, I believe Derby HAS cashpoints

But does it do skivers' discounts on the gate? And, more importantly, will the old boy manning the gate know they exist?

It's on the 4th, NOT the 14th, I believe.

The more the merrier - our aim is to publicise CricketWeb by making pillocks of ourselves at as many venues as possible.

Definitely. Just double-checked. Derbyshire v Clarke, Derby, Sunday, 4 September.

(Or was it the 14th? :p )

You can come - provided you bring enough marmalade for everyone. I'll bring a brew or two - maybe Woodforde's "Nelson's Revenge", maybe "Dogbolter". Liam can bring, er, some Caribbean sunshine

<quack> And a great big five-ski..... (quacking fades into distance)

Sorry about the duck. I'll leave him at home.
