In some ways I get their argument but the flip side is that teams shouldn't be banking on dead time at the end of a game to rush through overs from non bowlers in order to meet over rate targets which lets face it aren't that onerous.

Their gravy train of youngsters from Shropshire has slowed down. Good to see them go up again, can they stay there this time?

International Coach
ENGLAND U19s

18-man Young Lions squad that has been selected for the first half of the winter programme, which continues after Christmas with the ICC Under-19s World Cup in New Zealand.

Three seamers who featured for England Under-19s against India - including Warwickshire's Henry Brookes along with Ben Allison of Essex and the Durham all-rounder Matt Potts - have been ruled out by injury.

Andy Hurry, the head coach of the Young Lions programme, has been confirmed today as the new director of cricket at Somerset.

David Parsons, the ECB’s Performance Director, said: “Andy has played a key role in the development of our Young Lions programme and the wider Player Pathway since he was appointed head coach of the England Development Programme in September 2014, and on behalf of the ECB and also the many young players who have benefited from his energy and expertise over the last three years, I’d like to thank him for his work – and wish him good luck at Somerset.

“We have already begun the process of finding a replacement in what is a busy and challenging winter for the Young Lions, with a Tri-Series in South Africa before Christmas followed by the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand early in the New Year.”
Ethan Bamber (Middlesex), Liam Banks (Warwickshire), Tom Banton (Somerset, wk), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Jack Davies (Middlesex, wk), Adam Finch (Worcestershire), Luke Hollman (Middlesex), Will Jacks (Surrey), Tom Lammonby (Somerset), Felix Organ (Hampshire), Dillon Pennington (Worcestershire), Savin Perera (Middlesex), Jack Plom (Essex), Hamidullah Qadri (Derbyshire), Tom Scriven (Hampshire), Prem Sisodiya (Glamorgan), Fin Trenouth (Somerset), Roman Walker (Glamorgan).
Winter dates:
November 23 – December 10: Tri-Series against South Africa and Namibia in Potchefstroom.
January 15 – February 3: ICC Under-19s World Cup (New Zealand)

Well deserved awards for Daniel Lawrence (Cricket Writers' Young Player of the Year) and Jamie Porter (Championship Player of the Year), the latter especially a huge reason Essex finished top of the tree and both rewarded with a Lions trip.

lol. third failed test for recreational drugs. gotta be thick as **** and/or got a real problem. Deserves to be sacked but might get away with given Durham's plight.

ECB should dock Durham 4 points per game in which they used him last year for allowing to play IMO.

The amount of bad news coming out of Durham recently, the last thing that they needed was a self-inflicted transgression from one of their own! I mean the third time failed drugs test??? Does he not want a cricket career ? A clearly talented batsman but another one that is just willing to throw it all away.

Essex are rumoured to be showing an interest in Matt Coles. With improvements to the one-day side required, he'd be a welcome addition and would add more pressure on the likes of Porter, Walter, Cook, Quinn, etc, to maintain standards or raise their game in order to stay in the CC side.

I may be a bit biased, but Sanga was robbed in terms of the players of the season..what more does he have to do?

Samit inspired his team to 2 trophies and a promotion.
yes true but Sanga was virtually the Surrey batting himself..He was scoring tons and double tons for fun..still I suppose it was voted for by the players themselves..

That's the point I guess mate, it can't be a ridiculous decision as such if it was the players themselves that have voted for it. They must think that Sanga is obviously playing at a standard well below his capabilities and so there was a degree of expectancy on him scoring a lot of runs, perhaps not to the tune he did, but he should be scoring plenty.

As for Samit, like Marc says, two trophies and a promotion and his form in all types of the game has been pretty good, not enough to get him close to the England squad, but impressive all the same.
