That's the point I guess mate, it can't be a ridiculous decision as such if it was the players themselves that have voted for it. They must think that Sanga is obviously playing at a standard well below his capabilities and so there was a degree of expectancy on him scoring a lot of runs, perhaps not to the tune he did, but he should be scoring plenty.

As for Samit, like Marc says, two trophies and a promotion and his form in all types of the game has been pretty good, not enough to get him close to the England squad, but impressive all the same.
There's been loads of international cricketers winning it in the past, maybe this is a recent shift? Don't know much about these awards.

I think most people would say Sanga had the better season considering his runs were in Div 1 and he was also in ridic form in the one day and T20 cups as well, but Samit winning it is understandable if there are other criteria.

Yes I was just trying to offer a reason why players may not vote for Sanga, as you say he's been in ridiculous form this season, but maybe certain criteria has been intimated and guided the players away from voting for a player like Sanga, be interesting to know if certain guidelines suggest it should be a home grown player that you should vote for.

fair enough mate, but for me, Sanga scoring five consecutive tons in top division cricket and the sheer number of runs scored in such a small number of games cant just be considered as run of the mill..still I can see that popularity comes into the vote so fair play..

Surely Sanga has got to be popular amongst the players aswell ?? The man is an absolute gent!

Why didnt we just appeal at the time, would have saved the awkwardness of relegating one of the teams, as there was still a few weeks left of the season

Yes the whole thing just looks like sour grapes and clutching at straws! The closer the realisation of relegation loomed the more desperate they have become in their appeal having seemingly accepted the fact that the appeal could go no further.

It is sour grapes. I think we would have had a decent enough reason to appeal but it should have been done at thevend of the game. To do it now makes the whole thing seem a bit of a farce. If they do appeal i hope it gets turned down

In fairness, didn't they try and appeal fairly straight after the deduction of points was sanctioned but were told that the appeal made wouldn't go any further ? Then as those points became more valuable they stepped things up on the legal side in order to push the matter along. Either way, it's just a desperate attempt to salvage their season and the timing of it all now does not look good.

They should just dock Middlesex 100 points for bringing the game into disrepute. And dock Hampscum 150 points every season for having a dank tuft of rectal pubic hair as a chairman..

May as well go the whole hog when they're busy fixing things.

I remember the wicket Durham played on last season, the Durham players dumped their bags and training stuff on it as they naturally assumed it was the spare training wicket - that is how bad it was.

Paul Nixon head of Leicestershire (he was certainly angling for the job a few weeks ago in The Cricket Paper).

I'd love to have overheard the conversation when one of the locals helpfully pointed out that it was the match wicket.

Chris Nash gone from Sussex. Bit of a blow I'd suggest. If I was them I'd have preferred Luke Wright to go. Should get picked up. Maybe even a first division club. Worcestershire or Notts perhaps will both be looking at batting positions.

Jack Taylor banned from bowling for a year. No great surprise. Wonder how many randoms that to the eye look fine and never get tested are chucking it. I'd guess maybe 10% of the players in the county game if Jack Leach is anything to go by.

Other stuff from a while ago

Coles to Essex. Kinda surprising. Good bowler but pretty undisciplined off the field. Not someone you'd think you'd bring into when your on such a high. It is typical though of the way the talent drains - i.e. best players from div 2 eventually get bought up by first division clubs.

Rampaul to Derbyshire, Higgins to Gloucestershire, Will Smith back to Durham, Magoffin to Worcester, Hutton to Northants.

Really hope Somerset go for Nash, he's exactly the type of solid player we need to shore up our appalling batting line-up, would still like an experience overseas player through the year too. Yes I know this will mean our batting line-up would be Dads Army, but there'll be injuries and the youngsters (who didn't exactly step-up last year) could fill in then.
