Maynard's leaving Somerset.

Seems like Somerset weren't happy with a few things in their annual review like combining director of cricket and head coach roles.

Well it's been a season from hell with an incredibly talented young side, so no surprises.

Davies upsurge in form has helped, but his disastrous form at the start of the year hurt us. Need about two new bats, using Allenby's wages, an overseas player that stays the year would be ideal, or just South Africa drop Elgar. Lot depends if we can maintain First Division status of course.

Oh and stop pissing away money on Chris Gayle for the three matches he plays in limited overs, we really underperformed in that form.

Like Maynard. Spent time at the Titans and did very well. Think he was crucial in Faf's 4-day turn around.

I like the options Somerset have but it isn't exactly screaming immediate Div 1 safety or title winning.

But a team of : Elgar/Byrom, Trescothick, Bartlett, Hildreth, Abell, Davies, Gregory, COverton, JOverton, Leach, Bess is decent and something to build on for next coach.

Loving Somerset doing well. Jack Leach has 4-37 at the time of posting, although wasn't the word on the street that the pitch police would comment at the end of the match? I'd d like to think that the Somerset innings proved there were no major issues with a poor wicket.

Not that the selectors should be massively changing their thoughts and plans based on an additional 2 days of cricket anyway, but why didn't they hold off on the Ashes squad until the end of today?

Not as funny as the anguish it would cause certain people on here if they stay up to be honest. For that reason alone, I'm not that fussed as a Warwickshire fan if we lose this.
